Let's be fair. An adult got on here and first thing he did was call the kid a "flopper." I'm not a soccer guy but I have no doubt that's a SHOT at the kid.

Actually, you didn't miss much OTB, pretty much a sleeper, but to address a couple other points:

 

Flopping - an unfortunate part of the game that everyone knows is part of the pro game and is creeping more and more into lower levels. Depending on the ref, it's sometimes effective. I do have to laugh a little at those who think it's a great insult. The closest thing I can find in another sport is a player attempting to draw the charge in bball. I recall a couple years ago Nick Ruthsatz getting accused of the same thing in bball in a regional game. I think someone even put video up of it and yes, he drew a lot of fouls that way. I don't recall anyone (mommy or otherwise) saying he was being "attacked" on BGP. Same situation here. It's how I see some players play and that's my opinion. I said several times last year that Treadway was the best offensive player not only in N. Ky. but in the state probably but yes........he flopped with regularity. Saying a player "flopped" is not saying he's a terrible person or can't play. Get a grip.

 

Scott - I don't recall any inordinate attention that I've paid to this team (or the player in question) on BGP this year at all. I did say early in the year that their keeper was probably the best in the area but don't recall any negative comments about the player mentioned in this thread. If you have those, please re-post them and refresh my memory. I typically pick out those players (from CCH and other teams) that I think are the best but don't recall some undue negative comments about any one team or player. Again, let's see them. Some people are just looking to be offended sometimes.

It isn't an individual thing for Scott. It's a program issue. I've said many times before, it's the culture that is created and enabled by the coach. The flopping and trash talking and dirty play when refs aren't looking has been associated with the program for a few years now.

All this righteous indignation because of an "anonymous" comment on an anonymous forum about a kid possibly flopping in the box... Maybe it's time the kid, who by all accounts is almost an adult, put on his big-boy pants, and the mom stopped fighting his battles. If being called a flopper is the worse thing to happen to him this week, he'll be fine.

Agreed. It was an anonymous comment about one single play in the game. Nobody would have known who the comment was about until it was posted on here by the kid's mom. It wasn't a "shot" and was being as critical of the ref's call as the play. If someone got on here and said a CCH player flopped and got a PK awarded I doubt anyone from our side would ramble on about "attacks" on players. I don't think I've mentioned the player by name all year but really don't recall.

If my son, as a current athlete, got on here to defend himself, then I would be way more concerned. You have no idea how he fights his battles. Coming on here to defend himself is the very last thing that any athlete should do.

I'd like to know too, because I have no idea as well (To say I'm not well versed in soccer code would be a huge understatement) Seems like soccer has as many unwritten rules as baseball.

Was really not going to bring that up again but since it was asked.....there was a cute little attempt to convince the CCH players that one of the field players from Scott was going to be the Scott goalkeeper for the night (GK). See thread on CCH/Scott predictions. Anyway, the captains from both teams come out before the game at midfield and said player is wearing the GK outfit with no intention of playing GK probably. It would be like the shortstop in baseball coming out to deliver the lineup card to the umpire before the game wearing catcher's gear or a football captain coming to midfield wearing a cheerleader outfit. Been to hundreds of games and have just never seen that kind of thing. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it. Just seemed silly but to each his own.

A bit of gamesmanship perhaps, but I wouldn't classify that as "busch league".

Like I said, to each his own and I wasn't going to discuss again. Just have not seen that done.

Would it have mattered anyway? Either way it is a back up keeper. Was CCH going to change their tactics. Did they really have much to fear from the weakened Scott team regardless of where Morgan was playing.

 

Groinpull it is apparent you are pretty salty over something because you decided to pick two irrelevant events and make them the focus of this thread. Did Morgan "flop"? Who cares, it was one goal. If he got one successful call out of it that night then I'd say the rest of the game probably shows the true nature of what was and wasn't being called.

 

Did he wear a keeper jersey before the game? Again who cares? Maybe they really did intend on playing him until they realized they would rather have a better scoring chance than a slightly better back up keeper.

 

All in all the score line shows it was all irrelevant.
