Covington Catholic 8 Scott 1

Was really not going to bring that up again but since it was asked.....there was a cute little attempt to convince the CCH players that one of the field players from Scott was going to be the Scott goalkeeper for the night (GK). See thread on CCH/Scott predictions. Anyway, the captains from both teams come out before the game at midfield and said player is wearing the GK outfit with no intention of playing GK probably. It would be like the shortstop in baseball coming out to deliver the lineup card to the umpire before the game wearing catcher's gear or a football captain coming to midfield wearing a cheerleader outfit. Been to hundreds of games and have just never seen that kind of thing. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it. Just seemed silly but to each his own.

THAT is you called him "bush?"

Good lord. You think any kid on CCH thought he was really the GK? And even if they did, so what?

Take a deep breath. Step back from the keyboard if your inclination is to call a high school kid a "flopper" and "bush."

It's not what this board is about.

As I said, I probably should have let it go and not mentioned it and wasn't going to bring it back up. I was certainly not "salty" over it or anything else but merely reacting to the rant following my initial post on the game, which mentioned nobody by name other than to say there was a bad call/flop that resulted in the Scott goal. A comment like that is pretty common on the soccer game recaps.

Not well-versed in soccer code. What does the above mean in regards to GK jersey ?

Clyde, I do not believe there is a code for this, except for the perceived one that others seem to feel they are entitled to force on others.

I think all you had is a teenage boy making light of a difficult situation that Scott found themselves in, it did not sit well with a parent from the opposing team and he chose to make that known. I think "Lighten up Francis" works here.

I know this boy has some friends on the CCH team and was probably just messing with them, knowing some of these boys from CCH, I would be surprised if they had any issue with it and probably saw the humor as it was intended to be. If the players did take exception to it, I feel comfortable that they could address it on their own.

Oh.... one last thing... this game we get to watch them play is theirs, not ours.

I hear you. I had kids that played sports. I found that posting right after a game was not always prudent. I just think the tone , the pejoratives, and the general feel of your posts about high school kids was too much.

Agreed. Again, the reaction to my initial post (which was pretty straightforward and tame) was a little over the top but should have just let it go.

The reaction was over the top, and Highlands is going to end up on top of CovCath on Tuesday.

Easier said than done.

With a week off with no games, Highlands has the time to prepare themselves and rest for their biggest game of the regular season

Did Guru do away with the Drug-Screening for new posters??? :lol2:

My son has played with kids on both sides of this game- all great kids- several cov cath kids on his club team - great kids - played w Devon and some Scott kids in futsol. Again great kids both sides! The adults should let the kids play and not comment on them- your not playing the game and in the moment- let them be kids and enjoy it- let them enjoy their high school years- these are kids playing a game and don't need any adults outside their coaches or parents comments.

Hopefully, it will be more competitive than the Birds game against Trinity. Should be fun.

Good luck to you and your boys.
