Louisville Central, South Warren, Boyle County, Johnson Central, etc are continuing to show their dominance against top teams in 5A and 6A as well as against 1A and 2A teams. Are the aforementioned teams and their respective Classes top in KY football this year? And if so, will this be portrayed in the upcoming rankings? Thoughts?

 

I'd say they're doing alright but 5A and certainly 6A are still very much at the top.

 

I remember hearing two parents for CAL saying they weren't that impressed by SK during their game. Another chimed in and said well they did get the better of St. X in their scrimmage, to which another dad claimed that this years St. X team was probably the worst in over a decade.

 

It's my belief that this year you have two very very good teams in the state in Trinity and Male. Despite tonight's results Trinity is still head and shoulders above the rest of the state, if anything it just shows how good Male is.

 

Teams that are down from usual standards include Highlands, St X, Lexington Catholic, Covington Catholic just to name a few. This is a unique year in which the state actually seems to have quite a bit of parity. This would be a fun year for four classes of football.

First off, take the Bass out of your voice when you talk to me Sir. If you want to throw insults, that can go both ways. Conduct yourself like an Administrator please.... Secondly 3 of the top 10 (Arguably Top 5) teams in 6A got beat tonight. One by a 4A team, one by a 3A team, and one by a very good 6A team. Saint X which many thought could be Top 3 in 6A lost to 3A Louisville Central a week after Blowing away Bowling Green (the #1 5A team). So I believe this is a discussion worth having.... If you disagree fine, then disagree, but the Theatrics are uneccassary.

 

St. X is still trying to figure things out. They've still got time to do so.

All you have to do is line the teams up by class, #1 in 6A vs. #1 in 3A or 4A depending on which class you choose. Then #2 in 6A plays #2 in either 3A or 4A and so on and so on.

That's my point. The #4 or #5 team in 3A just beat St. X. Every team in 3A would lose to Male, Trinity and Scott County. I could also see more teams in 3A going 7-3 or 6-4 against the top 10 of the 6A.

 

Perhaps 3A is that good.

Perhaps St. X had a poor game.

Perhaps St. X isn't as good as folks wanted them to be.

Male vs. Boyle? Male wins.

Trinity vs. Central? Central barely beat X and CAL, but lost to Knox Central. Jackets aren't good enough to knock off both Big Green Monsters.

SK vs. Belfry? SK runs wild.

Manual vs. Paducah Tilghman? PT got beat AT HOME by the No. 13 team in 6-A (Central Hardin), so PT is not beating the No. 4 team.

Bryan Station vs. Elizabethtown? E'town barely held on against the No. 22 team (which means it is in the BOTTOM half) in 6-A (North Hardin) and got gouged defensively in the second half. Bryan Station makes North Hardin look slow.

Scott County vs. LexCath? LexCath lost to No. 10 Ryle at home. Not beating No. 6.

St. Xavier vs. Caldwell County. St. Xavier all day.

PRP vs. Russell Independent. PRP runs wild.

McCracken County vs. Bell County? McCracken too athletic.

Ryle vs. Garrard? Garrard lost to Shelby AT HOME and barely beat 1-3 Lincoln. Ain't beating Ryle.

 

As far as classes, CalPreps says 6-A, 5-A, 4-A, 3-A, 2-A, 1-A.

3-A has the most balance and isn't top heavy. However, the bad 3-A teams ... are really bad (3-A District 7 is ranked 47th out of 48 when looking at ALL districts across the six classes). Like I said, E'town and Caldwell are both top-seven teams in 3-A, but BOTH struggled with the No. 22 team in 6-A.

IMO this is the way the next rankings would look....

As a heart attack! I would bet you I am more right than wrong on these rankings...

I think Male, Trinity and Scott County are the top 3 teams in the state. I feel like after that there is a nice mixture of 6A and 3A teams with South Warren and Johnson Central sprinkled in there as well. I have no idea where.

Let's say for the sake of argument that Male, Trinity, and Scott Co. are the top three teams in 6A. I think any of them beat any other top three teams in their class (3A, 4A, whatever). The question then becomes can Simon Kenton or St. X or Manual beat the #4 , #5 , & #6 teams in those divisions? I am going to go with "yes". Could there be an upset on a given night? Sure. But play the games 10 times and all 6 of the 6A teams will sport a 9-1 record (except for H & T which will be 10-0). 6A all day long.
