Well said 58, but I think Red and Black is closer to the actual score. I think both teams try to shut down the others rushing attack and do a pretty good job of it. I think BGs passing game might be further down the road at the moment. And as you said turnovers will be huge. I just hope BG comes out fired up for this game. They did not last game and it really cost them. It was 7-0 X before anybody's offense came on the field. Can't do that against good teams. If I'm Owensboro, I try to dominate the special teams against BG. Lot of field position to be gained by doing so. It will be a great one just like last year. But this is just the first of 2. The second being Week 3 of the Playoffs if I'm not jumping the gun too much. Not sure where that one would be played.

If BG handled St. X I would say BG - but since they didn't, I think this game is up in the air. Owensboro returns most all of their skill players, less the QB. With Greer moving to full-time defense, Owensboro has put a premium on defense. This same group took BG to the limit last year and had their chances to win it. I look for a well-called game by Owensboro, but I think their defense can keep them in it.

 

I know BG lost Holt and most of their offensive line. Last year their (BG's) RB slashed Owensboro in the 2nd half, but so far, OHS' run defense has been stout. I really think this is a lower scoring game than some think. OHS has some serious speed on both sides of the ball, but will they use it. If OHS wins the TO battle, I think they can win.

 

1) Can OHS contain Carruthers or will he have 200+ yds

2) Who wins the TO battle

3) who gets better special teams play

 

I know BG will be ready - so will Owensboro. Again, I look for this to be much lower score than last year. IF OHS can limit TO's and penalties:

I believe this game comes down to defense. Owensboro only rushed 3 players against Zuberer and sent everybody else back in coverage against Owensboro Catholic. BG's quarterback in no Zuberer. Owensboro's run defense is much better than last years so I believe they will stop the off tackle runs that hurt them last year. If the offense can limit penalties and hold on to the ball, Owensboro 21, BG 7.

Well I was at that game. I can tell you first hand St. X had BG outmatched up from by a mile and with depth of junior and seniors subbing in. That won't be the case with Owensboro. Being as outmatched as Bg was, Payne still threw for 316 yards. While BG is a little small up front and young, Owensboro is not St. X.

Right now 50% chance of PM showers on Friday in BG. Who does that help or hurt the most? On the surface I would say it's a push because both teams have to play in it. Maybe the fans lose the most.

This is my second favorite game of the regular season and I am excited.

 

With that said, BG keeps the ball in their hands (stop fumbling) and tighten up special teams I call BG by 14. O-boro has a stout run defense, fortunately BG can pass with the best of them. Should be an excellent game for all to enjoy. Good week for football ladies and gentlemen.

I think that would play into O-boro's favor. I say that because it hurts the Clark Payne air game.

There is no love loss between these two teams, which makes this a great game to participate in and watch as a fan. I'll go with BG pulling out a close victory as they did last year.
