From the quotes I'm reading on Twitter, Stoops is trying to put an optimistic spin on this.

Coaches are going to look at this tape and like a lot of what the saw in both the deep pass coverage and pass rush, IMO. I think they will like how UK stood up to the run throughout most of the game, also. I really think the defense was hung out to dry by being out there way too often in the second half.

Towles is not their problem. That defense is.

I'm normally optimistic but I'm feeling really pessimistic right now. I don't like feeling pessimistic.

To further prove my point, you mentioned Boom taking one to the house from 75 yards out. He then only carries the ball 9 other times from 60 yards at over 6 yds/per carry.

 

UK is the only program in the countrythat would limit a guy like that to only 9 other carries the rest of the gamw after ripping one for 75 to start to game.

 

Their winning scoring drive might have been the most impressive. Look at what they did their last drive.

 

If Boom carries it 15 more times, they might also win by 3-4 more scores....but, everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

Just got totally outplayed in the second half. Defense got run over, need to get tougher.

Granted I don't know much about UK's offense, but Boom Williams would be getting 20+ touches if I was calling the plays.

Let's understand that we will never know if any run calls were checked out of by Towles. Let's also understand that Louisiana went to a defense that allowed us to make big plays deep in the passing game- and UK was up 33-10 taking what the defense gave them.
