(Un)- Accidently Like a Martyr - The Kim Davis Saga

Where would we be if everyone quit because it would be against their beliefs? It seems as if the left wants everyone to quit who disagrees with them. Are your arguments so weak that you want your opposition to quit, before the weakness of your argument becomes evident?

The minute you use "the left" is the minute you lost credibility. Like it or not there have been some good conservative folks that have said she should resign.

Why do you think people would be upset if compromise and resolution is found?

I think the LGBT wants it their way and only their way. No other way would be letting her get off. I was told that at the federal hearing by the LGBT side of the discussion. I have watched twitter and even this board and there are some that will consider that a defeat and still say anyone that opposes gay marriage a bigot. Just because I do not agree with something or somebody does not make me a bigot. This has been moving at to quick of a pace for my liking.

So you are saying that anyone "is only good" if they agree she should resign? From the left or the right? And anyone else is?

Why would anyone be upset if the marriage process is streamlined? Maybe if it went online and performs like the initial Obamacare website?

That's all the clerks association has asked for. Just to take it out of their hands so they dont have to put their names on it personally. And till that happens this wont stop. There are alot in other states that are asking the same. Judges and clerks alike. What is happening is this is a very growing movement by the Christians like it or not and the voice is just going to get louder.

People with an agenda are going to be upset if they don't get their way.

That's a given on "any side of this aisle."

But for people like me, I am hoping and praying for a compromise and the opportunity to tone down the vitriol and anger.

No. You obviously aren't reading it the way I intended. (could be my fault. could be yours)

I am saying this has not been a "left" "right" issue. It has been we agree or disagree issue. It has been a constitutional issue for some and religious for others.

Using the blanked term of "the left" is to imply that anyone who thinks she should have been jailed for contempt is automatically some liberal, card carrying, left wing guy. That's not the case at all.

People from conservative and liberal backgrounds have called for her to resign if she can not "do her job."

Let me play the game with you

So only those who are supporting Mrs. Davis' in this are "Christians?"

Those who have supported another view are not? Or maybe they aren't "true Christians?"

For the record I'm all for this compromise but Mrs. Davis did not say any of this before she flaunted the SCOTUS ruling. It's now a compromise by EVERYONE involved. You know, what America used to do so well.

Even when you have Donald Trump last night saying that "whether you like the law or not, it is the law and you must uphold it", that is saying a lot.

I do not know the answer to whether all those that are supporting her a Christians. I would guess that there are people who are not that are supporting her( Madonna's brother who is gay came out in support of her).

I think everyone would like a compromise, one that lets both sides get what they want if that's possible.

See here's the thing, she's not obligated to so it really doesn't matter. This issue isn't as simple as "if you don't like it, quit" or "do your job", it's much more complex than that, but that gets to be a difficult discussion at times.

I see her having as much "right" to take a stand as anyone else who has "taken a stand". Why should she be required to subjugate her belief system to accommodate someone else's ? Where is the fairness in that ?

That's my biggest issue with this drama, that at least one group feels they should be able to dictate another group's belief and practices.

Irrespective of what my personal opinions are on this one, I don't see it as an equitable issue.

You have many valid points. I am as anti- Gay marriage as anyone on this site, but I also believe firmly in following direction from your boss.

I just think for myself I'd rather go broke then work for Planned Parenthood, for example. You are correct though, it does go much beyond "just quit" in this case, and that's my bad for only looking at it on the surface.

I agree with you. I think it is a much deeper issue than just surface news clip videos

I think it is much deeper and you are correct.

I believe Kim Davis believes her eternal soul is in jeopardy if she associates with this ruling in any way. I think she firmly believes that with all of her heart and mind. That is why she is so adamant and passionate.

That said, I also think she does not see herself being able to step away from her earnings and her heritage (Circuit Court Clerk). She is psychologically torn.

Then she is fed by pariah who wish to use her as a test case to undo what the courts have done. Now she sees it is serious but I hope and pray that she doesn't take advantage of Judge Bunning's generosity to find resolution for both sides of this issue.

I would guess that in her mind, only one resolution exists, and for her it likely doesn't matter if either side like the outcome, only the opinion of One. I absolutely believe she is caught in this issue.

You don't come out to Eye of the Tiger if you are not in this for the publicity.

I would say that show was brought to you by the Liberty Counsel and Mike Huckabee for President. She was overwhelmed by it, I have no doubt. But it's the great Oz behind her that's behind the show.
