Like most years, Ballard gets a little preseason love, but at the end of the day Ballard just isn't that good of a football team. DeSales on the other hand, is a very good football team and is turning into potential powerhouse.

 

DeSales wins 31-13.

Ballards not a bad team. Ballard has some issues with their DBs. DeSales QB can throw it around so he may have some success like Shelton from Male had...but DeSales is not Male. This will be a close game. Ballard spotted Male 14 points because of problems with their punting team- if they fix those issues they'll compete.

Not posting a score or a prediction but when I looked at Desales coaching staff I was impressed. Coach Buddy Pfaadt as an assistant is unbelievable. I credited my discipline and style to this man. Male high Grad. MANUAL head coach 1975 . Both schools Hall of Fame. We are only as good as the people around us and the Head Coach at Desales knows this very well.

Wow! I have a son on the team, but even from a parent perspective I can't see that. I'm hoping we don't LOSE by three TDs.

 

I don't see this one being close. Ballard is highly overrated and shouldn't be sniffing a Top 10 ranking in 6a.. They may be Top 15, at best.. I see Desales winning this one by 3 or more scores..

As I said before as a Colt fan I'm expecting a loss. Can't believe some of these predictions.

Ballard crushed a weak Oldham Co. team in the first week, get blasted the next week by potentially the best team in 6A (Male)....So where does this Bruin team rank/compare to the past two teams the Colts has played, (Fairdale,Butler). Has anyone seen them play yet? A friend told me he seen the Male game and was surprised by how they struggle with the Bulldogs. Guest will find out Friday

A win by DeSales against Ballard would get them somewhat out of the shadow of T and X as being that cute little Catholic HS who can beat the other little schools to getting a decent amount of respect from T and X. I don't think anyone would say it would put them on the level of those two but would certainly gain their respect as a formidable foe should they ever play.

Similar to Butler game, DeSales has to watch out for big plays. Even more so than the Colts previous opponents, Ballard has another level of size and speed (including several contributors from perennial power bball team). Ballard coaching is very good, this should be a close one.

If DeSales is as good as they seem, they should be fine. I expect a DeSales win

Desales is a program not just a collection of players. They have a distinct advantage in coaching. I'll be rooting for them and hoping that is enough to overcome Ballards athlete advantage.

my only fear is that I don't think this Desales team has been tested yet. If Ballard comes out and smacks us in the mouth I'm not sure how we'll respond. If this were last year or the year before I'd say Desales wins no problem. I just don't know just yet with this group.

Nothing going on with this discussion all day yesterday or today? How is everyone doing over in Colt Country???? Ready for the big game?

 

Could be a good one. No matter who comes out on top, two quality opponents going to battle - and I'm sure both of them will use this game to help in the overall long run or big picture. Good luck to both teams tonight!

Could be the most competitive game of the night. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. The thread leans DeSales' way- but the DeSales fans wonder why.

I think the DeSales people are looking at the Ballard mystique. The big school vs. the small school. But as an outsider I'm looking at what DeSales has accomplished. They are a very good team that is well coached. I expect a close game and would not be at all surprised if DeSales wins it.

 

 

PS: I also always love it when an evil private school sticks it to a poor unfortunate public school who can't compete with all of their advantages. :sssh::eek:
