JC is big and physical, taking nothing away from Cath. they also are a very good team. this will be a classic Boxer vs Slugger contest and should be the top game in the state IMO. having coached and broadcast games most of my adult life, I have to go with my gut...JC will punch em in the mouth and get a win by 10

Delusional if you think JC wins easy, but hey easier said than done. If you look at styles and had to bet on it being a runaway type of score and game most people would place their money on LexCath.

I've never said that about Lexington Catholic against JC. I am always pretty accurate about most matchups and this one is all about pace. If JC is able to hang around early and punish Lexington Catholic in the trenches then they have a great shot. If LexCath takes a two score lead and JC had to act of character and throw the football then I believe it favors LexCath

Lot of people said last week Lex Catholic was soft on the run defense. If that is true this week could be a long night for the Knights.

Lex,you very well may be right about some of your comment, yes most people probably would place their money on Lexcath simply because there is a bias toward Cent. and northern KY programs and that's all well and good but there are other good teams in this state also. No need in trying to hand out bulletin board material for the Knights because I can assure you the Eagles do not feel this way. Coach Perry is a great coach and JC has more than their fair share of work cut out for them, maybe too much to prepare for in a week. Had this game been later in the year I would feel a little better about our chances but with it so early and how our teams improve largely during the later weeks of the year, it is probably not the best time to face a seasoned team like the Knights.

 

After watching their game the other night on the live broadcast, one thing that there is no lack of on their side is speed. In the past speed has always been the achilles heel for most JC teams. No way in the world will this be an easy W for JC and if the game takes a turn this way then I would say it has to favor LexCath with their ability to put points on the board in break neck speed. Anyone that knows a thing or two about JC is that they will go out, line it up and let the chips fall where they may.

 

The one reason we scheduled this game is for playoff preparation. A game like this will help in having the kids face adversity early on, give ample time to correct flaws by athletically superior teams before the playoffs and provide a great atmosphere for our players and fans. I hope that regardless of the outcome, both teams play a good, clean game and that the Eagles are within striking distance towards the end to have a chance to pull out a win.

To beat or compete with JC you have to have above average OL-DL play period. Their OL will maul you and grind out 1st down after 1st down, wear down your D and keep your O on the sideline. DL will live in the backfield and disrupt everything your trying to do whether passing or running the ball. I think JC wins this game pretty easy.

Pretty much JC will stick with their game plan until they feel they can't. They will throw every so often when the D gets over aggressive loading up the box and forgetting about the WRs. JC also has a habit of those RB sweeps, then the back throws deep.

I might would set Jones out anyway, this game is not worth much in the big scheme. And Johnson Central like most mountain teams will hit hard. Jones will be exposed to more punishment this week than last.

Though this post has it's sarcastic value as a dig at the EKY fans who love talking about "How hard those EKY teams hit"...

 

In a way you are underselling JC a bit. They are one of the more physical teams in the state and usually one of the hardest hitting defensive teams you will find.

 

With that said, if Jones is fully cleared there should not be an issue.. but if I am the LexCath staff and see him take a couple shots in light of last week it might not be a bad idea to lighten his load in a game that is nothing more than bragging rights instead of risking a significant injury that may effect games that do matter.
