We all know that Lex Catholic has a weaker than normal defense, we get that. But for the people that do follow Knights football all know that they have NEVER had a great defense. It has always been a " BEND BUT DON"T BREAK " defense. Great example was this last weekend, though they lost, they stop Ryle several times going on 4th down.

Now with that said, Lex Cath has to make JC play from behind. JC will milk that clock till it's cream with their time of possession. And if JC is playing from behind, I don't see them having a lot of success in passing the ball. Lex Cath needs to stick with their short/ medium passes and go quick at top to Ogbugo, Morris or the Thompson twins.

If LexCath doesn't win I would like for all of the regular posters to give me every recipe they have for crow. I will break out the fine china for this one. So submit those recipes to LEX by Friday evening.

Something I found interesting. With Catholic and Boyle coming to 3A, it will be interesting to see how Johnson Central fairs against L CATHOLIC. Because for the last 7-8 years Belfry has only beat JC maybe once, and usually JC handles them pretty good. Just curious

I am trying to catch what your saying, but I'm not understanding it. Belfry is not a good 3A team?, JC is a superior team cause they beat 3A Belfry 7-8 meetings? Boyle Co and Lex Cath has no business playing or being in 3A with Belfry? Please explain to us.

I think what he is saying is that Johnson Central has beat Belfry and Belfry went on to win 3A. If Lexington Catholic beats Johnson Central then maybe that means Catholic is better than Belfry. I'm not sure I agree (styles will affect these games) but I understand what he is saying.

Belfry is 1-5 vs JC over the last 6 years

 

 

4 of those 5 losses were by double digits.

 

To be fair, last year was a game that you "throw out" because Belfry literally was playing missing half their starters due to injury. Also the 2009 and 2010 Belfry teams simply were not very good and JC was very good those years (both years JC beat CovCath and gave Highlands fits and were probably the #2 team in that class) .

 

With that said, if LexCath can beat JC handily it will be a very solid measuring stick. By that same token, if JC blows out LC you can also look at it similarly.Will not say anything about where Belfry and LC stand due to styles... but if one team rocks JC and the other loses there definitely can be clues.

Gotcha, thank... I just wasn't following the wording. True though Belfry is a different style than Lex Catholic and Boyle Co. Will see come Friday. Well actually I'll be in Louisville to Trinity vs Lafayette.

Saying that if JC handles Lex Catholic the way they have Belfry, we may have more of a level playing field in 3A. But if not Maybe Lex Catholic is on a different level. Only curious. I like Johnson Central s program, but thinking about a parallel possibly.

To beat or compete with JC you have to have above average OL-DL play period. Their OL will maul you and grind out 1st down after 1st down, wear down your D and keep your O on the sideline. DL will live in the backfield and disrupt everything your trying to do whether passing or running the ball. I think JC wins this game pretty easy.

Kind of.

 

JC uses wider splits and a little more power focused. Usually use a little more Wishbone.

 

Belfry uses the flexbone and are a little more geared toward the belly series and misdirection. I won't call Belfry's more "finesse" when they average 6'2 280 across the line, but it doesn't attack you as straight ahead as JC.Both have lightning quick QB's and rely heavily on the FB dive.

 

Think of it as JC being the heayyweight fighter who wants to get in tight and crush you wish body blows and heavy power punches. Belfry is the middleweight who will pick their moments to end the fight with a single punch but is perfectly content jabbing and dictating the pace.

Delusional if you think JC wins easy, but hey easier said than done. If you look at styles and had to bet on it being a runaway type of score and game most people would place their money on LexCath.
