I think it's a combo of Fairview being a little better and Hazard not being quite as good as some of us thought. Good win for the Eagles, another tough task for them next week.

The final score surprised me more than the outcome. I have said all along that Paintsville, Fairview and Raceland ..... either could win the district and/or region and it wouldn't surprise me.

Three of those are Corners. 1 senior and two freshmen. Freshmen are big time players.

 

Fairviews offense was fast paced and Hazard just couldn't recover. I think the QB threw 4 picks in the game. 1 should of been caught after Hazard recovered the onside kick. Hit the Hazard recievers in the hands.

Everyone has those and the ones that say they don't are liars, lol. Our Raceland kids had some of that type stuff ... drops / mistakes in the 1A semis vs. Williamsburg last season. We got outplayed but w/o the drops and a couple of over / under throws it may have gotten interesting.

Fairview Offense is interesting now to say the least. Neither Paintsville and Raceland better not take them lightly. Defense will get better for them. Hazard will have to adjust early without them but the regular season is for bragging rights and getting better.

 

One thing I did notice about this game is the Quarterback doesn't like getting hit. They threw a lot of quick passes and screens and it will be hard for teams to defend it. There was not much of a running game for them but they didn't need to run it this game. Hazard didn't have trouble moving it on them, it was just them making mistakes.
