PJCS has to be about maxed out on premium seating, and adding general admission type expansion goes against everything trends are showing in fans deciding to stay home and watch on their 60 inch flat screen over sitting in a 500 level dealing with the elements.

 

Adding seats just for the purpose of growing the attendance number is hustling backwards these days...

Louisville has had good attendance the past few years no doubt. But I just checked three different websites and all said about 3,000 under the capacity the past two years. Three years ago was almost 6,000 under capacity. In 2009 average attendance was around 32,000 (yes I know that is going back a few years). But if you win, people will come. I just wondering if UofL is getting a little ahead of themselves here. Wasn't the last expansion only a few years ago?

 

It's all about the schedule and all about the money. No, couldn't sell tickets when Memphis and Rutgers were coming to town but Kentucky, Clemson, and FSU will all sell out 60k+ whenever they're on the docket. The improved schedule means that the new seats can be sold as often as not and so it appears to be worth it to them.

They can easily include a tunnel from the Howard S. Building to the field, but what will they do with the Johnny Unitas Statue that is in that endzone?

 

It's hard for me to remember too. UofL moved over there quite a few years before they moved the high school state championships over to PJCS.

 

Trinity and St. X played there for the first time in 1998, your freshman year.

With the schedules continuing to improve along with the product on the field (hopefully), there is no doubt in my mind this expansion will be full. It's becoming increasingly harder to get football tickets, especially if you don't buy season tickets. With FSU, Clemson, and Kentucky being regulars, plus I'm sure we'll add more marquee games, I love the idea.

 

People were also talking about how the Flight Deck wouldn't be filled when they expanded there. Those folks were wrong.

1. Probably private donations again.

2. Approx. 10k, but I don't know how accurate that number is. Plus field level suites and more additions to the Schnellenberger building.

3. Yes. Getting tickets (non-season) is becoming increasingly more difficult, especially for big games.

Actually it's on the state. The rest of us will have to pay for it if they can't find a way to make money from it. Quite convienient situation they are in though. If and when the Yum center goes bankrupt, UL has positioned themselves to be the one who can buy it, with the state taxpayers paying off the junk bonds.

 

Meanwhile, Jurich decides he wants the school to spend more money on a new project, rather than them figuring out a way for their precious project to pay for itself.

 

I get it, its his baby, but the rest of the state will inherit it. Then he can buy it back and own it himself for minimal cost, while us taxpayers pay the interest for him.

Last expansion was about five years ago, capacity went from 42k to 55k. I don't remember the cost, but it was all private funding I believe.

It will add 25k square feet to the Schnellenberger Football complex (building in the North end zone). Massive upgrades to the weight rooms and other resources used by the football program. More premium suites, including the only field-level suites in College Football. About 10k more seats, pushing capacity to 65-66k.

Jurich apparently visited Dallas and talked to Jerry Jones about them. Jones told him if there was one thing he would have done differently at the new stadium, it would have been to do more field-level suites. This new expansion will include 10 of them at PJCS.
