Louisville Stadium Expansion?

Featured Replies

Rumblings have been heard for quite a while concerning another expansion at PJCS. Picked up some steam on Twitter tonight with reports that Jurich said it was happening, and even a rendering has showed up. Not sure about the validity of any of it, but I do believe another expansion is inevitable.

FWIW, I absolutely LOVE this rendering, if it were to be the real thing.

Jurich announced it tonight at a the 50 Yard Line dinner for donors. $55M project.

Jurich press conference tomorrow at 11am to discuss expansion.

$55 Million for a stadium expansion?

So when are they going to put in a sewer substation to stop campus from flooding? :D

1) Who is paying for it? 2) how many new seats? 3) Is there a need? 4) How will the performance of the YUM effect this project if it is public funds?

All questions that we probably can't answer just yet.

But... the last stadium expansion was all funded by private donations if I remember right.

A quick check and I see that the last two years they have averaged about 5,000 over capacity.

How old is the current stadium?

First season was 1996 I think.

1998, $135,000,000 equals $195,000,000 today.

Wow, I didn't realize it had been around that long.

It's hard for me to remember too. UofL moved over there quite a few years before they moved the high school state championships over to PJCS.

Sorry, there seems to be an error online on my search. PAPA John's stadium holds 55,000, which is about 2,000 over their average the last two years.

Louisville has had good attendance the past few years no doubt. But I just checked three different websites and all said about 3,000 under the capacity the past two years. Three years ago was almost 6,000 under capacity. In 2009 average attendance was around 32,000 (yes I know that is going back a few years). But if you win, people will come. I just wondering if UofL is getting a little ahead of themselves here. Wasn't the last expansion only a few years ago?
