Having some fun as I'm getting ready to head out to my first game this year in about 3 hours. Get me a hamburger and diet coke and pick up the latest fashions. I have to buy each year because you know, they keep adding title years to the shirts and I keep adding sizes to them.

Well you and 75center I would never and have never put in the minority group those who disrespect. You all should know that.

 

I am very superstitious also

and is why I never gave a prediction in that thread even though I felt very confident in Cooper

for that game. I even in the game

thread itself when guru asked

me who would win after Cooper was up 20-0 I said I wouldn't say because I didn't want to jinx them.

HAhaha. At least you have a great excuse to get new spirit wear each year because of additional titles. My only excuse is because I keep getting fatter!

Haha. The wife thinks I'm insane with my superstitions. All through March madness she was exiled to the bedroom during games. Even when I do chains at Cooper Games I have to be on a certain side of the chains. I'm a sick puppy

I do not believe it was people disrespecting Cooper, but more of people predicting a big win by HHS by their past decade of dominance. They expect Highlands to never have a down year. well it happens to all teams and in High School teams can have a huge change in a year. A lot of people had no idea of numbers Cooper had returning and looked at 5A as a weak class last year. You can not completely judge either team by last week. If Highlands continues to play like they have in scrimmage and week 0, the win will be pretty meaningless for Cooper and the rest of the big games on their schedules will determine if the have earned appropriate respect. If Highlands wins their next 5 games (a big if) and Cooper continues to win,than maybe Cooper is the real deal. At this point however, I think most people feel Cooper (a good team) caught Highlands during a down year.

To answer the thread question, pretty much anything is possible, but it is very improbable.

 

HHS will play better this week and even their record. Being at DCM this week is just what the doctor ordered. Birds will use this game to move forward. No predictions beyond that. Will have to reevaluate for game 3 after tonight.

Getting old. This team is not down. They lost one game for goodness sake. They will not be 0-6 anytime in the near future. Tired of the harping about talent being down. The talent is no different than they had last year except you had a QB that was like a coach on the field. 3 Offensive Lineman return, 3 receivers return, a running back returns, 2 Defensive Lineman return, 2 Linebackers return, 2 DB's return. Did these kids all of a sudden forget how to play the game? They all were an integral part of things last year when Highlands one state championship number 7 of the last 8. There are others that saw time in spot duty or on special teams.

 

I can tell you from experience that when you have a majority if not all of your defense returning, you are going to be way ahead of the curve going into a season. If other teams cannot score on you, it does not matter how many points you get as long as you get more than your opponent. Cooper's defensive front 7 was outstanding last week and I would venture to bet you are not going to see too many teams with that many guys returning during the course of a season.

 

Love how one loss to a very strong opponent turns into a "the sky is falling" As someone has said earlier, they will take one game at a time and it starts tonight with the Camels.
