Lawnboy13
Elvis Presley was found dead lying on the floor in his bathroom by his girlfriend Ginger Alden, he had been seated on the toilet reading 'The Scientific Search For Jesus'. He died of heart failure at the age of 42. His first record for RCA, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, was also his first US No.1. He starred in 31 films. Elvis holds the record for the most entries on the US Hot 100 chart with 154. Elvis became the first rock 'n' roll artist to be honored by the US Postal Service with a stamp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley
TAC
Having a TACster attend a school in Memphis we have made the pilgrimage to Graceland. It might be cheesier that when Clark Griswald stopped by the largest house of mud.
Jumper_Dad
I remember telling my mom when I saw it on TV that he had died...I think she may have slapped me for saying something that awful, thinking I was making the story up. She stayed up all night listening to the radio as the stations were doing tributes to Elvis. I always have been a fan of the King!

Jumper_Dad
I guess I'll have to round up a grilled peanut butter and banana samich in honor of the king!
lawildcat
My mom was a huge Elvis fan so of course I was too! They were both from Tupelo MS which I always thought was way cool! As young as I was, I still remember the day he died and how sad my mom was. I love watching Elvis movies and can't decide whether I like his rock n' roll or gospel music more. For years I wanted to visit Graceland. When I finally did, it was the most depressing place I think I'd ever seen and I was sorry to have made the trek. Jumper_Dad
Had a coworker that was 3rd cousin with the King, but was only 6 or 7 when he died and only remembers seeing him once. His dad and Vernon were cousins.

75center
Had taken my mom to the Jerry's across from CCH for a hot fudge sundae. The waitresses were all crying when the news came in.

Can remember my dad playing Elvis records before he and my mom would go out on weekends with friends.......on a system similar to this, the one we had was SUPER LOUD!!!! Me, my brother, and sister were in the car with my mom when it was announced on the radio.........you would have thought it was the end of the world.
