Ex-Dolphins line coach suing Ted Wells for defamation

The decision to file a lawsuit is the latest salvo from Turner, who has ripped Wells in the past for undertaking what Turner saw as an unfair investigation designed to find a scapegoat.

“Wells is not a good human being, and when I didn’t give him the stories he wanted, he targeted me as part of a problem in Miami. He’s not an independent investigator, he’s not doing this looking at both sides of the situation, he’s hired by the NFL and he’s going to print the story that they want printed,” Turner said in May.

Turner feels that Wells irreparably damaged his career, and now Turner wants to make Wells pay.

Another black eye for the NFL and Roger Goodell, and this can't hurt Brady's chances to have the entire suspension overturned.
Filing a suit and a decision on his behalf are two different things. I think the timing for him to cash in was rather fortuitous. Bet he gets nada.

I think I have some knowledge of our legal system. :thumb:

Like you, it is the timing that intrigues me.

So I heard today that the NFL's own lawyers will be arguing in the Brady case that the Wells report is not "independent". They are saying that the collective bargaining agreement does not force the NFL to conduct an independent investigation. The NFL front office is an absolute joke. They go out of their way to make it sound to the general public like the Wells report was an independent investigation that proved Brady was cheating and then go to court and argue that the report was not independent. I used to think Goodell was just incompetent as commissioner. Now I am beginning to think he is just a bad guy...Wells too. Goodell knew the initial findings were wrong so he hired Wells to do a hatchet job on the Pats to justify the incorrect initial findings...corruption at its finest.

The more I think about this, the more it is interesting. Could this lead to a bunch of people suing Wells? Does Incognito sue Wells? Does Brady sue Wells? the Pats ball boys? How about the Saints? Didn't Wells do an "independent" investigation of them too? Do any of them sue him? I hope Wells and Goodell are sued by a bunch of people in the next year or so...
