How do you think Snow gets the ball ?

Snow won't score 15 goals or have more than 5 assists. He is lazy and selfish..... I watched them play highlands, he scored ona few free kicks and stood in H for the rest of the game. Imo the rest of the team watches him the entire game because they know he's not going to pass the ball.

He opened against SK with a goal and 3 asssist. He also got a hat trick against a strong Highlands team... sounds lazy and selfish to me...especially with a man marking him every game I'm sure.

Is Highlands a "strong" team? I see 8-1 to Trinity and then I see "strong" and I am confused.

Highlands is a middle of the road team IMO.

I would say thatthat right now they are a tough game for Cooper.

Is it really about the competition or the team you play on V/S the team you play against? Here's how I see things, if I played for Holy Cross and played teams at the same level as us and had 25 goals and never did we blow anyone away does that mean I'm not good because we are not in the same matches as let's say a cov cath? I personally think you have to work harder to get those goals because you have no supporting cast to get you the ball at the right times. If the same team played the same matches as cov cath and I only score 7 goals no one give me credit because I haven't scored enough. It's a double edged sword. Again this is just my opinion

I'd say that until you have seen most or all of the teams in N. Ky. play, it's best to hold fire on any 10 best player lists.

 

I won't argue the logic on finalizing the list so early. But I will say for those of us (ME) who are not nearly as familiar with the depth and breadth of talent in the 859, the back and forth gives me names and teams to look for when they show up on my kids' schedules. I am not nearly as fortunate, committed or available to attend games where my heirs are not on the pitch. My center ref throws a red card down on that, grounds for immediate disqualification!

I was thinking the same thing. Say we put Day on Scott and Morgan on Cov Cath. Is either one of these players any less or more of a quality player due to there surroundings? I would say no. Having watched both of these players play club together regardless of stats they are both NKY top 5 players just IMO.

Morgan is a very good player. Day is an excellent player. I've been watching these two play club together for many years. Morgan has some great tricks and skills. Day has some great tricks and skills, but with an added finesse and athletism built in. Now, if both these guys were on the same high school team... Wow.

Great info. Where did you find these? Is the info easily available?

I got to thinking about what Flops and Stepover say in their posts above (#79 & #81 ) and I think they both have some merit.

 

If the transfer window were still open and you could move Day to Scott HS, and Morgan to Cov Cath; I agree, it would do nothing to change the quality of either of these players.... but what impact might it have on their stats?

 

If I am following what Flops is getting at, it might be tougher for Day to put up the same type of numbers at Scott because his supporting cast might not be as strong as what he has at CCH and he would become the focal point of the other teams defensive plan. On the flip side, might Morgan's stats be higher if he were to play at CCH? I think the goals for Morgan would actually go down because I feel the amount of goals would be more equally distributed amongst a few more players rather than him being the focal point of the teams offense.... and also the other teams defense. I believe his assists would also take a huge jump if he were able to play in the midfield, see last years stats.

 

I think if you look at the top few scorers in NKY (Morgan, Snow and Wend) you could make the exact same case for each of them. Their overall numbers would probably go down if they were on teams that had comparable scoring threats but the drop in stats would say nothing about the quality of player they are. As Flops mentioned, they might actually be working harder to get the goals they do have because they do not always have someone getting them the ball at the right times. I would also add, it is hard to get off a shot when there are multiple players on you for the majority of the match.

 

Just to play devils advocate.... Does Litzler, or Sanders, post the same type numbers that Wend and Snow are if they were to switch squads with either of them?

We used to say "they all count one" referring to quality vs poacher goals. But do they all count one? I'm not saying this is necessarily correct, but since it is well established that goals against Germany (or CCH) count more than goals against lesser teams, shouldn't we take into consideration strength of opponent in computing scoring potency?

 

A rough approximation may be had by multiplying player points by average opponent Maher Scaled Score (MSR); a more precise adjustment by using the sum of the products of points in each game multiplied by respective opponent MSR (substitute team's average opponent MSR for out of state opponents). MSR gets more accurate as season progresses and MSR corrects pre-season bias.

 

Player = points * Avg Maher of Opp. = Maher Weighted Points

 

Litzler (CCH) = 20 points * 8.79 = 176

Liles (NCC) = 23 points * 7.38 = 170

Snow (Cooper) = 34 points * 3.34 = 113

Day (CCH) = 11 points * 8.79 = 97

Wend (Conner) = 20 points * 1.68 = 34

Sanders (St. Henry) = 17 points * 2.02 = 34

Morgan (Scott) = 27 * 0.35 = 9

 

Note: Others not computed because opponents average MSR was negative.

Great formula.....too bad there isn't a way to assign a number into the formula for strength of their own team...ie supporting cast.......A "stronger" team can give you more scoring or assist chances by having players in the right position........if you have to do it all yourself, then it is more impressive...

 

....also, if there was a way to assign playing time percentage, as well. That way you could apply the apples to apples over the same number of minutes.
