I couldn't disagree more with Davis or anyone like her, but if these are legitimate beliefs, (aside from the reality that they are pushing for a portion of their job to become automated) this bears a striking similarity to one Pontius Pilate.

There are alot more people who have this line of thinking than you would believe. Why do you guys think a fellow like Donald Trump is defying political sense and leading in the polls right now? I will tell you why. A large number of people are tired of the way things have been going and will do whatever it takes to reverse it.

This is what you said. It doesn't matter if it's the majority or not. People do get tired of things they don't like being shoved down their throats, such as people being told who to love, who to marry, as well as many other things. Just because the majority agrees with something doesn't make it right. People shouldn't have their rights trampled on do to someone else's beliefs. But some, possibly many, would prefer the days of Stonewall.

 

More and more people are agreeing with equal rights, including marriage, for gay people, Nationally it's now a majority, that is fact. Give 5-10 more years and it won't even be close. But at issue here is gay people have been putting up crap being shoved down their throats such as who they can or cannot marry.

 

I agree with Ref, there are a lot more important things out there that need or attention.

LOL, please, you talks to "a lot" of clerks on this issue? You go from county to county asking clerks this question? Hmmm.

 

1) It doesn't matter what the clerks agree with or not, they have a job to do, which includes marriage licenses, there shouldn't be any accommodations for them now, either issue all marriage licenses, quit, or be replaced.

 

2) What about all of the gay people who were afraid to come out, let their employers know, school, landlord, friends, as they were truly worried about the consequences? But now you are worried about clerks who are worried about coming out?

 

And as was already pointed out, your post about how the issue would lose nationally doesn't hold water, or facts.

Not at all. I apologize if it read that way. We disagree on this particular issue politically but I would lock arms with you and fight for our rights to have our religious views and to be able to say them out loud.

 

I think it is embarrassing for the slew of clerks that you claim want to move marriage licenses to the internet. If this was truly a big deal, they are doing nothing more than washing their hands of it. Whereas they could be fighting the same battle as in Rowan County, going online would be saying "well I didn't have anything to do with this" even though they are pushing it out of sight.

Let me also say this. I was told that there are ALOT of the lawmakers that WE all voted in that is going to support this. I guess they are wrong too. Again I was just told this by someone who is a little more than a normal citizen who deals with clerks also and according to them( Not me) there is alot of support to take this out of the clerks hands so they do not have to do this.

You have not answered my question. Please explain how the online license works and why the clerk will no longer have to worry about whether it is a same-sex couple or not. I really just do not get it. Will it no longer be under the purview of the clerks office?

 

I am looking for answer something like, "Because the clerk would no longer see the marriage licenses and they would automatically be approved thus she will not have any direct handling of the license." (All that is hypothetical on my part)

At one time, the majority didn't want interracial marriage either. Some things just shouldn't be put to a vote.
