Serious question on profiling

Are we ignoring shooters, like the one in Charleston? What about Timothy McVeigh (and his friend, Terry Nichols)? The Columbine shooters?

Or all the black on black shootings that happen in Chicago every week?

Let's take this case with what we know thus far.

Shooter is a US citizen.

Dad gave donations to Hamas.

Shooter visited Jordan for a few months.

Let's say we knew all of this before the shooting.

What should/could the US have done with that info?

Not just a throw away line....here are some stated goals of Hamas:

Hamas Charter (1988)

Main article: Hamas Covenant

Article 7 of the Hamas Covenant provides the following quotation, attributed to Muhammad:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews."[83]

Yeah I would take donations to Hamas pretty seriously.

That did not answer my question.

We captured and killed the coward McVeigh.

The killer who is being ignored is the coward that killed the military folks in Texas. Why is he not dead yet?

None of that answers my question, either. But I don't suppose that you intend to answer it.

Apparently only you know the answers to your questions....so why don't you answer them then, and make sure it is all about white racist privilege...right?

Even though the President and the latest two Attorney Generals are black.

Obviously you missed my point. Let me clarify, as I said nothing about racial privilege. How do we profile when those committing the acts look like us?

This board is made up mostly of white, Christian males. Timothy McVeigh was a white, Christian male. How many of us have people that look like McVeigh, Klebold, Harris or Roof in our families? Particularly with the Columbine shooters, in my line of work as a high school teacher at a predominantly white school, how do I profile the next shooter/s?

Agreed. What could have been done in regards to the son?

What could the authorities have done differently?

Are you saying his dad was a "known terrorist?" I can't find anything on that other than making "contributions" to Hamas. That, by itself, is a red flag obviously but what could they have legally done to either the father or the son?

You do not let them in period. So you have questions about them? You have his dad on a watch list? Then you don't let

them in to the country period.

that was the 21st time our military was attacked here, be overly sensitive if that is what it takes. Profiling? Heck yes profile the crap out of them.

I believe the family has been here for something like 20+ years.

Father has been in the US since 1982. FBI became aware of him in the 90s.

Father was investigated twice by the FBI for donations made to charities. He was cleared both times.

Still wouldn't have let son in if he came here.

Based on what?

His son was a minor child when they came to the US.
