Moerlien house has survived. That is a worse location with similar square footage. They have the right product and management.

 

Disagree. They're right next to the stadium and they have the huge outdoor space and are overlooking the river. Much better area IMO.

I think that location would be awesome for a Gameworks - Dave and Busters type concept and it would fit great in that space.

Can't believe that its closed. I was just there for the All-Star game. I wonder if the landlord (or whoever it was) waited for the All-Star activities to end before closing the place down.

If that was the case I think he would have waited till after this weekend when keith Urban hits PBS.

I'll give you the view, but TK sits very close to the main entrance of the stadium. Most that attend the game should be able to see the bar. So many people walk by that place on the way to the game. Plus it is right next to the national underground museum.:lol:

The Two-Bits bar that took over for Wine Guys isn't set to open for a little while I don't believe, but they were open for the All-Star festivities. Hopefully it wasn't finished, because it was an incredibly cheap knock-off version of 16-Bits up off Mercer.

 

Amazing location.

They are going after 2 different types of customer's, IMO. When I walk by Moerlien on my way home it's a lot of older people and families who are going to the game and grabbing dinner, or business people. I've actually been stopped 2 or 3 times by older people in the garage asking where Moerlien was.

Sounds like you agree with me? They offer a better product with a worse location which is good enough it actually has people trying to find the location versus walking by.

Every time I'm at the Banks, or more specifically going to a Reds game, I go past Moerlien. I can't recall the last time I even saw Toby's.

Even if I park in the garage under Moerlien, I come from Campbell County over 471 and would end up driving past TK. I normally park somewhere downtown and walk down. This weekend I parked in Newport and walked over so I really never went past either. They are both close enough to the activity that if they offer what people want they would survive. Add in a bit of proper management as well. I did hear some bad things about how TK treated employees poorly. One waitress has been waiting on a tax statement and gets the run around every time she goes there. Saw a separate post from the owner of Bourbon and Broad as well who said he and others have been mistreated by the organization.

When I'm walking to work the Reds game, I frequently get asked about the Morelein House.

But if TK's wasn't paying rent, its not like the landlord (or whomever) would be getting money from TK. So why wait if he [landlord] is not going to see profits from ASG?

 

I'll take a stab in the dark and say it's easier to recoup money from someone who has it than someone who doesn't. The ASG was surefire boon so closing before would have been a losing deal for everyone involved.
