June 6, 201511 yr It happened tonight in the Red Sox/A's game. Switch hitting rookie catcher Blake Swihart stepped into the box to face switch pitching A's pitcher Pat Venditte. Venditte had to declare which had he was going to throw to Swihart with before the at bat. He chose to throw right handed and struck out Swihart. It was interesting. He warmed up both arms and threw left handed to the lefties and right handed to the righties.
June 6, 201511 yr Author That's sweet. I'd love to know how many times that's happened. The Red Sox announcers said that Venditte was the first pitcher to throw with both arms in the same game since 1995. I'm not sure if that is accurate or not but if so it has been at least 20 years since it happened.
June 6, 201511 yr It is just incredible that first of all that a person could throw so accurately with both arms. Then to basically have a major league baseball arm with both arms. Just incredible!
June 6, 201511 yr Before they clarified the rules it got really bizarre. [video=youtube;-2oD8KzxS14]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2oD8KzxS14
June 11, 201511 yr So when he's warming up between innings does he get 8 pitches total, or is he allowed to throw 8 with his right, and 8 with his left?
