JD Williams and Darren Shred are expected to sign as well. Both guys played for the Ontario Blue Jays. The Reds drafted 4 guys in total off of that team.

Billings opens up their season tonight with lots of our recent draft picks on the team including 1st round pick Tyler Stephenson (Cather). 2nd Round Comp pick Tanner Rainey (P), 3rd Round pick Blake Trahan (SS), 6th Round pick Jimmy Herget (P), 7th Round pick Jordan Ramsey (P), 8th Round pick Mitch Piatnik (2B), 9th Round pick Sarkis Ohanian (P), 10th Round pick Zach Shields (CF) and 11th Round pick Brantley Bell (3B) also will make their debuts.

 

Pretty excited to see the majority of our top 10 picks making their debuts, of course not all of them will play tonight as most of them are pitchers.

Making their professional debuts for billings last night:

 

Blake Trahan went 2-3 with 2 walks, 2 steals, a run and an RBI

Great starts to their careers especially Trahan he carried over his impressive plate discipline from the college ranks (more BB's than K's every season in college).

 

Brantley Bell went 1-4 with a steal and a run.

 

Zach Shields went 1-4 with 2 RBI.

Last night Robert Stephenson allowed 2 runs in 7 innings with a walk and 10 strikeouts. Love seeing him dominate like this.

Robert Stephenson going back to his last 37.1 innings pitched he’s allowed 16 hits, 12 walks and has 51 strikeouts. That’s good for a 1.69 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP.

For Dayton Brian O Grady continues swinging a hot bat. 2 HRs and 5 RBIs tonight. He was the Reds 8th Round pick out of Rutgers last season and seems like someone to keep an eye on. He's now hitting close to .280 with an OBP right around .390. He has 6 HRs, 14 Doubles, 6 Triples, 31 RBIs and 20 SBs. Bats Left Handed and can handle all 3 outfield positions very well.

Juan Duran made his 2015 debut last night finally and had quite the game he went 2-3 with a home run and 3 RBI and also had 3 OF assists throwing out three different runners at third base.

I honestly have no idea what was wrong with him. He was with the Reds in Spring and had a HR which is the last I had heard of him. Right now he's rehabbing with the AZL Reds which makes last nights performance a little less impressive but still a nice night for your first game action in a while. I'd guess he ends up back in AA with Pensacola where he hit 17 HRs last season. Hopefully in his second year at AA he can finally find the plate discipline that has always plagued him. At 6'7" and 230 lbs with tons of power and still just 23 years old he's still a very intriguing prospect. He's already in his 8th minor league season with the Reds which is crazy for a 23 year old.

Gavin LaValley had a nice day at th plate yesterday. He went 4-6 with 2 doubles, a home run (2), 3 runs and 2 RBI.

And the best highlight for the farm system yesterday was the catch made by Billings Center Fielder Zach Shields who was just drafted in the 10th Round. He made one heck of an acrobatic catch yesterday and I didn't get to see the top 10 but I heard it was the #1 play. This isn't his first appearance on the top 10, he made it a couple time during his UNCW days. Here it is...
