August 13, 201511 yr Author Jackson Stephens threw 6 shutout innings with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He hasn't given up a run in his last 3 starts. He is 7-2 over his last 10 starts with a 1.77 ERA. I'll admit I'm to young to remember Tino very well but from what I've seen on highlights those swings are very similar. I'm also to young to remember this guy very well but I've head some compare Winker to a young Larry Walker. Probably the same experts that pegged Bruce as being similar to Larry Walker. Actually though I think Winker is closer to Walker than Bruce ever has been and ever will be, Winker will never be the power threat of a Larry Walker but they both have very similar approaches and eyes at the plate. I do think Winker has a very good chance to develop into a yearly 20-25 HR guy. As far as a more recent comp Christian Yelich seems to be a popular name. Him and Winker are very similar hitters with Yelich having a slight edge in speed and defensive ability.
August 13, 201511 yr The more I watch of Winker, the more I become confident in this....He's going to be a poor man's Joey Votto. He won't hit 25-30 HRs a year, but he'll get in the 15-20 range. He won't knock in 100 runs, but he'll end up in the 75-80 range each season, and teams will quickly learn that to beat him, he has to make a mistake because he won't chase garbage. I see a .300+ hitter with average pop to all fields, with no weaknesses in his swing.
