Tyler Stephenson hit his first professional HR today for Billings. He has not been promoted to Dayton as I previously said.

Tyler Mahle since May 28th has posted a 2.51 ERA in 136.0 innings pitched with 22 walks and 123 strikeouts.

Houston is a bigger threat than 22 other teams, and is a big a threat as any team other than Kansas City. The Rockies are 4th in the NL in average. How they looking? The key is pitching. I'm not saying the Reds don't need to improve their offense, but pitching, pitching, pitching is the key.

 

Don't disagree. Wonder why they gave Votto Bruce Phillips the big bucks and let all the pitching walk? Kind of contradictory.

Reds 1st round draft pick Tyler Stephenson © moved into the MLB top 100 prospects last night with Stephen Piscotty exhausting his prospect status.

Cody Reed pitched 8 innings of scoreless ball. He gave up 4 hits, struck out 8 and didn't walk a single batter.

James Vasquez was named MVP of the AZL Rookie League. Drafted in the 25th Round out of UCF he hit 359/.415/.669 to go along with 11 doubles, three triples and nine home runs.

Baseball America released their All-Prospect team for August. Jesse Winker made the team as one of the three outfielders. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos outfielder hit .344/.465/.602 in the month with 12 extra-base hits, 20 walks and 20 strikeouts.

Jesse Winker went 4-5 last night with 2 Doubles. He also had 2 OF assists giving him 17 on the season. Avisail Garcia of the CWS leads the MLB with 16 OF assists for comparison.

Ray Chang played all 9 positions and collected 3 hits as well. Very cool.

Amir Garrett dominated tonight in game 1 of the 1st Round of the FSL playoffs. His line was 7 IP, 1 H, 12 K's and 0 BB's. Clutch!
