My idea for cost cutting on illegal immigrants or refugees

Featured Replies

I'm concerned with all groups who ignore our laws, and I'm mainly Irish.

I just don't have any idea on the best way to resolve the current situation and protect our borders while at the same time taking into account that many innocent law abiding people will be affected.

Ref, you make an assumption when you say that the rich and powerful support illegal immigrants coming into this country. I don't see any statistics to back that up. Wealthy people pay taxes too and I would bet most of them arent crazy about supporting illegal immigrants. Seems to me, it is mostly the Democratic Party (which supposedly reflects the working class), who are helping immigrants.

I am not in favor of spending my tax dollars in illegal immigrants either, but they are leaving deplorable living conditions in hopes of a better life. Hard to blame them. In the meantime we have millions of third generation welfare people who have no desire to work. We have single moms in their 20's having 5-6 kids they cannot possibly support. It bothers me more to pay out money to able bodied Americans who play the system.

Yet they're OK with them being their maids and gardeners, and to have them pick their fruit and train and care for their horses and other livestock, pick their tobacco, build their houses, etc.

Our illegal immigrant problem in this country wouldn't exist if there wasn't somebody wealthy paying them to be here.

I can't reply to every quote but I will try to cover all said.

It shouldn't be Americas problem to take care of another countries kids, I anything give aid to them to keep them their, maybe one of those kids will eventually help their own country.

Yes I feel that way about all immigrants from any country

Yeah our country was founded on and helped built by immigrants. Abour 400 years ago when we needed people and resources were there and this ain't 400 yrs ago

When I also refer to the rich and powerful it's the liberal politicians who want them so bad so they can only extort them for votes.

We have enough people here already who look for handouts and lazy bums, we don't need to keep adding to the surpluss.

Good luck with that one since the people doing the employing are the ones writing massive checks to donate to political campaigns.

It's not the Fortune 500 that is hiring illegals to work for them. It is the local Mom and Pop Restaurant, Farm or other small business that are hiring them...that's why you can't fine $100K per day, it would shut those businesses down in a matter of days. Those businesses are also NOT the ones writing checks to politicians and PACs.

Fortune 500 companies used to have a ton of illegals working for them as "Contract Labor" through a third party, but after some severe crackdowns and fines they found that they were accountable for those workers being work eligible and that pretty much dried up 10-15 years ago.

They may not work at the factory, but they definitely work at the homes of the executives of these companies.

What about them?? Are you ok with throwing kids out onto the streets with no protection, care, safety, etc?? While I get your point of who's paying for it, does what's currently happening really affect your standard of living significantly?? If we deport all of them, or refused to issue those benefits, would your standard of living increase significantly?? These kids do eventually become old enough to work, and a good percentage of them become good, contributing members of society.

And the argument of illegals voting and changing elections is just tired. Illegals aren't voting for fear of deportation. And if we could get more than the 50% of our native citizens to vote, maybe it wouldn't be such a problem anyway.

Every problem you mention as being associated with illegals, is just as big, or probably even bigger within our own native born population. Again, remember, this country was founded by illegal immigrants....lets stop assuming the current bunch is that much worse than the original bunch that came over in the 1700's.

I didn't think Native Americans believed in ownership of the land....so how were they illegal?

Could be...but that had nothing to do with my point.

However, I do disagree with your point. Have you ever traveled out of the country? Most illegal immigrants would love to wash dishes than live where they live. Many legal US citizens getting welfare would not consider doing work that illegal immigrants would do. Perhaps the welfare system should figure out why.

Just pointing out that this country was created by immigrants who basically took the land over from the folks who previously resided here, nearly wiping out that original population.

Gotcha, but that is no different than every tribe, group, country, or empire since the beginning of mankind.

Sure it would. They are immersed in all areas of our economy working for the rich, the middle class and themselves.

Sure it would.

OK, fair enough. Nobody gets hyperbole. Our illegal immigrant problems would largely disappear if there were no jobs here to draw them across the border. How many Hispanic illegal immigrants are actually signing up for welfare? Wouldn't this be something to avoid so as to avoid the risk of deportation? Those people have no choice but to work — and someone with means is paying them.

That someone more often than not is you and I.

That someone more often than not is you and I.

You may be able to pay someone to do it, but I have to mow my own lawn and clean my own house, and that's the case for the overwhelming majority of American citizens. Are you really suggesting that the wealthiest people in this country are blameless for the illegal immigration problem in the US?

And you have no response to the dilemma of how an illegal immigrant would risk deportation by signing up for welfare?

Did I say the rich are blameless? I believe I listed them with everyone else.

You are looking through a very limited window when you talk about cutting your own grass. The illegal economy is so much more than unskilled labor.

I have no response on the welfare aspect since I have made no accusations on that and really have no idea on how big that problem is and as I've said above I have no solutions to the illegal immigrant issues.
