Here's the dilemma for some of these kids to figure out:

 

Do I play for my AAU team or High School team at high exposure events that conflict on the same dates over the summer?

I think you put your high school team first during the month of June. There are plenty of high exposure AAU events during the high school dead period and during the month of July. Also plenty of high exposure AAU events in April and May.

 

It's my opinion that the term "high exposure event" is often overused advertising lingo and a way to get teams to come to said event.

Absolutely. The "bigger exposure" events take place in April and July. Nobody misses anything in June. The respectable AAU programs don't schedule tournaments in June anyways. Not to mention that June basketball can be strenuous as well. Some schools will get in up to 20 games in the month of June and all of them practice.

In July, do you think the player should play with their HS team , when the HS enters high school team exposure tourney's where plenty of college programs are in attendance?

I was not aware that the high school teams play in tournaments together in July, after the dead period? At that point, aren't the high school students playing soccer, volleyball, cross country, and football for the boys. The ones that aren't are playing AAU?

Yes, all Mason County girls. The coach is of course, Brian "Rabbitt" Littleton. They are missing a couple but they are all Mason County.

I would not let the high school coach know if you were struggling with the decision between AAU and the school team. True, it is supposed to be optional. But I would think a coach wouldn't be too happy if they were second fiddle EVER---but especially during June.

So far I'm hearing that most think June is for HS and the July conflicts between HS and AAU go to the AAU team.
