Has the QB battle been settled?

Appears to be Tanner Morgan.

A lot of discussion about the offense, what are the thoughts on defense? Ryle lost Belk and Brownell at ends, Woolf at LB, Cleveland on the line, and a pretty physical Gavin Brandt at corner. Seems like a lot to overcome.

 

 

 

I've been able to catch a couple of practices and I don't think that they'll struggle much, especially as the season progresses. They've moved John Meiman (3 year starter) to outside LB/DE. Tyler Selby, who was a great JV player last year and started at DE for Ryle's playoff games is at the other OLB/DE. D line is quick and talented although it lacks size. Backfield has great speed and covers well, it's a little surprising to see a sophomore apparently starting at CB but he's been a standout on freshman and middle school teams. Not completely sure who will be starting at ILB, right now looks like it'll be between House, Dematrakis and High. House started on DLine last year while Dematrakis and High played JV mostly last year but both saw some Friday night action.

Looking forward to the Bryan Station scrimmage next week to see how we look against outside competition.

Should be a fun team to watch.

Hearing there are a lot of kids playing multiple positions. Or can play multiple. Any truth to that? Do they really have that many talented athletes that can fill several spots if need be? If so, they will be dangerous!

There is definitely not a shortage of athletes in Union. Quick and agile describes many of them. If they can get them all on the field, in the right position, yes, they could be quite dangerous

I don't think anyone is starting both ways.

Yes there are a number of kids that can play and play well at different positions. I look for one of the three ILBs to move to D line.

Straight up two platoon right now. Ryle has many of very good skill players. They are not extremely big anywhere but have a lot of team speed.

After watching one of their first 7 on 7's, I don't think there was any question Tanner Morgan was the guy. I think they called it a QB competition just to give Ohare or whoever the other kid was kind of a thank you for all the hard work he's put in over the years. They will find a place on the field for him and probably be wr but Morgan was clearly the best QB I've seen in this area since last years Hoge at Highlands. Morgan has the arm that will open a lot of peoples eyes this year. He really looked good the short time I saw him about a month ago.

Every QB looks good when there is no pass rush. It will be interesting to see how Ryle does against Bryan Station in their scrimmage.

There is not a lot of question marks. lots of kids look great in shorts, some not so great. put on the pads and the football players stand out. That's why we scrimmage. Until the coaches get some real game action film to evaluate there are some competitions going on still. Some get downgraded, some get upgraded.

A players a player no matter the level. From what I've seen and heard he's going to do great this year. Another top notch NKY Qb to continue the trend.
