This why Ryle's feeder program has been so strong. There are a lot of numbers that have been "laying in the wait" Freshmen become sophmores, sophmores become juniors, juniors become seniors. From what I understand, this is the first year of all four classes coming in from the feeder program. Next man up !! SK's biggest fan can't disagree with this logic. The youth teams play in the NKYFL (up through 6th grade). The 7th and 8th play in the Kentucky Middle School league. They do not play many local schools except for Highlands. They play more teams from down state and Ohio.

This years soph class went as far as final 4 in the State Tournament as 7th graders. This years 8th grade team went to the state championship last year.

Many of the seniors were part of the original union raider team. Plus a couple of juniors.

This year's seniors lost on a judgement call in the last seconds of the quarters as 8th graders. Lost to Beechwood at the frosh championships. The two classes behind them are stacked as well. All three classes played very good defense. While we graduated some very good defenders, there were kids behind them that were developing and will step up and be strong. Our secondary looks very strong. Our Lb's will be younger but fast and hitters with good size. D line I have no idea as they don't participate in 7 on 7 and most regular practices are in the am when I'm at work. I'm sure someone else knows more about them.

I've been able to catch a couple of practices and I don't think that they'll struggle much, especially as the season progresses. They've moved John Meiman (3 year starter) to outside LB/DE. Tyler Selby, who was a great JV player last year and started at DE for Ryle's playoff games is at the other OLB/DE. D line is quick and talented although it lacks size. Backfield has great speed and covers well, it's a little surprising to see a sophomore apparently starting at CB but he's been a standout on freshman and middle school teams. Not completely sure who will be starting at ILB, right now looks like it'll be between House, Dematrakis and High. House started on DLine last year while Dematrakis and High played JV mostly last year but both saw some Friday night action.

Looking forward to the Bryan Station scrimmage next week to see how we look against outside competition.

Should be a fun team to watch.
