Everyone likes Hamilton because he is so fun to watch on those rare occasions when he gets on base. However, he's been a huge problem the last 2 season. The leadoff position is absolutely killing the Reds this year. For the season batters hitting in the leadoff spot are hitting .179 with a .236 OBP and a .280 Slg. That is the position in the batting order that gets the most plate appearances. The number 9 hitters are batting .160 with a .229 OBP. That is what is batting in front of your run producers in the 2-3 spots. There's your problem.

 

I don't think it's a coincidence Votto had stellar numbers for the few weeks Hamilton was getting on base 40% of the time. Now that the leadoff spot has been horrible again his numbers have dropped.

I've already stopped watching them. Earliest I can ever recall literally going out of my way to find things other than the Reds to watch or do. Can't stomach to watch the walking embarrassment that Walt and Price continue to trot out there.

Totally agree Mustang, for us Reds fans it has been a travesty going back to giving the series to the Giants and possibly a chance at a World Series

I like watching the other teams,especially in inter-league play and the West Coast teams(Giants,Rockies,Dodgers)

Zero reason to keep Marquis around in any role. This team is not going anywhere this season and he is not going to help them turn it around. He won't be here next season. Use the young guys. If they have some of them on innings limits rotate them between the #5 spot and long relief. When they get to their limit shut them down for the season and bring up another prospect or retread. I'm sure Marquis would clear waivers so you could bring him back if you run out of young guys but there's no reason for him to be taking up an active roster spot right now.

I'd say neither but since that isn't an option I'd say Badenhop. He's actually been relatively effective the this month. In May he's pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 earned runs, walked no one and struck out 3. That's a 2.70 ERA and 0.75 WHIP. Except for a week in April where he pitched 3 innings, allowed 9 hits, 10 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 4 for a 30.00 ERA and had a 3.67 WHIP he's been okay--not great but okay. Marquis is just getting ripped every start now.

This is the pitcher that I thought would be up already, have no idea why they are not giving him Marquis spot. Changing the line up has screwed with Votto and Cozart who were both playing great and hitting the ball, could be coincedence but I dont think so.

I've been catching the replays on this series due to watching College Baseball but I agree as another poster on here said during the S.F. series ..... when watching this Reds team (and I will add manager), when playing "Good"/ Real MLB teams you see just how dang far we are away from contending for any type of playoff or title.

IMO the Reds have talent but it's not being brought out by Price. Yes. the player is the one responsible for his effort / performance but that Has to Be Brought Out in them and Put in A Position for them to Succeed ....That's what a Good, Experienced and Winning Manager does. Price just changes the lineup / batting order every dang day. Players imo have to know where they will be and what their job is. Not come to the park every day and guess. Price had NO manager experience, was a terrible hire. There is too much talent and potential talent on this team to not give them a manager that can't bring it out in them or know how to use it in the best way to give them the best chance to win.

As long as Walt is here, this is what you are going to deal with. The guy can come in and help turn a team around but when it's his guys out there and his blueprint, good luck thinking outside the box or trying a different approach.
