From another thread somebody said one qb would win the starting position because to much politics going on with Dad for him to not go there and start. So what is going on in Union? Anyone?

First, I am not taking a position on daddy ball and the past at Ryle but I just don't see it with the new Coach.

 

I think Coach Engler will correctly identify the best QB on the roster and run with him. I am extremely confident in that.

Several rule and quoted rule violations.

Whenever I hear the 'coach plays politics' brought up, all I can think of is why would I choose to play a kid I KNOW is worse than another kid if my priority is WINNING?

 

Makes zero sense to me.

 

What HS football coach in Kentucky who makes about $4.00 an hour and puts in about 70-90 hours a week teaching and coaching away from his family in-season would honestly think it's better to play a kid who would make him more likely to LOSE a game than win it?

 

And just because you think you might get a bigger donation to the Booster Club?

 

Or just because you think some kid's dad who you want to impress might think more of you?

 

Now if the Principal is pushing for you to play his kid over a better kid, I can see why a coach might feel some pressure; but any coach I know would leave that kind of job on principle anyway...and not before making it very well known why.

I am objective at one time daddy ball was there. However, it's not now, just so happens one of the fathers of the best players in the state is involved in the program. I am sure it's everywhere though.

John if you are referring to Ted Morgan, the last practice I was at he was sitting in the car watching. Unless something has changed in two weekshe didn't look like he's coaching to me. We talked most of the practice.

That might be the case I haven't talked to him in quite a while. I know he at one time was instrumental in the program but that was the old regime. When Tanner played for me Ted never caused any problems or expected any special treatment.

I can assure you Tanner is the best QB at Ryle. Not even close and anyone who thinks Ted is influencing anyone they are crazy. He loves his son. Help start the Union Raiders and brought his son back to Ryle to be with his friends and IMO Tanner is the best JR QB in the state. So if I was coaching them it would be easy pick.

The quotes about choosing Ryle for academics ring hollow as it's not even the best school in Boone Co. anymore for that, much less the likes of Beechwood, Highlands, etc.

I think PigSkin Junkie was referring to before he chose Ryle, while they were in the process of moving back they were also looking at other schools in the area, Cooper

being one of them.

 

Now as far as this thread goes, sounds like someone from SK is a little scared. Afraid of young Morgan.
