I understand that but the inference of daddyball is the inference that players are given preferential treatment or playing time they haven't earned. That is simply not so. Rabe is a freshmen coach and a spotter in the booth on Friday nights. Can't speak to Perron. I don't know. But if there is no influence there is no problem. Its pretty hard to fill all those non paid volunteer jobs that a program needs without a parent or two. I'm sure every program at some point has or has had a parent that does something for the football program. Calling in doubt peoples character without proof, substantial or circumstantial is wrong. In the real word its called slander.

A parent or two?? We were laughing in the stands in 2013 - 22 men wearing the then-traditional shirt and tie vs. Cooper. Twenty-two!! (We had ten - but we did have to beef that up in 2014 to get the field properly watered down.) At least 8 that I know personally had a kid on the Raider roster. That's more than a third. I'm not talking chains. We do have a dad or two (or a alum dad or two) working those, as do most schools, I'd wager.

 

I daresay you lost a good number of those to graduation, but maybe it was the regime change. But don't come at us like he cleaned house and eliminated the problem all together. And btw, who was your nose guard most of the year? When you played Cooper, it was a coach's kid.

I can't say if that is a problem today as it was in the past. The only one I have heard say that the daddy ball is alive and well and influencing Ryle football is uk#1fan....but that is just to stir the pot I think.

I think a parent can coach if they are staying impartial. Like has previously been stated, I'm definitely NOT hearing any "daddy ball" issues out of Ryle. If the kid is legit good enough to play, they would play. I seriously doubt Engler would come into Ryle and let the same kind of things go on that went on before he was there.

And I'm not saying he is, at all.....I'm just saying there are still dads on the sidelines there. He did not stop the practice all together as SOME would have us believe. For the record, Perron is as good a line coach as Ryle could hope to have. The Rabes know the game inside and out. Did not EVER say otherwise.

You said our starting nose guard has a parent/ coach. You are inferring that he did not earn his spot. I guess Woolf didn't either. Heck my wife helped feed the team on game day. No way my kids was good enough to play. Must be some favoritism going on. Or you could say that we here at Ryle support or our student athletes and help out when asked and do as much as we can to support them in whatever fashion we are asked. If you were as connected to our parents as much as you claim you would no that the program is not being run like that. You know in Boone county that there is NO athletic budget so you have to have some parents involved. We don't roll that way either sir.

If the coach supports it then I'm all for parents helping the coach out. Obviously requires a strong coach to control it but most teams have a real lack of coaching resources.

I think you may be a bit unfair to Pigskin. Never said any of the coaches kids aren't good enough to start. What was said was they still have several dad's on the coaching staff. It is nowhere as bad as it was in years past before Engler got there though and we all can agree to that.

 

Pigskin was simply pointing out when someone said there weren't dad's on the staff that there actually still were. I didn't see where Pigskin ever said anything negative about any of them there now though.
