May 6, 201511 yr I had not heard or seen anything on the board here about this. Last night Cov Cath welcomed next years crop of Freshman and their parents. It was not a long meeting, but one of the speakers to be was the AD - Tony Bacigalupo. I had not read anywhere that Mike was no longer the AD. Does anyone know if he retired? I am guessing he was reaching that point. Also, will or can Tony still remain on the Basketball staff? One other thing from last nite, was that they announced next years freshman class will be the biggest in over 50 years - 172 and still growing!
May 6, 201511 yr Assuming the diocese hasn't started any new policies against it (I don't see why they would have), over the years Cov Cath has had several folks in the AD position in addition to being an active coach.
May 6, 201511 yr It was my understanding that Tony started off as assistant basketball coach, then the following year became a business teacher (while coaching), then the following year became associate AD and Dean of Discipline (while coaching and teaching), and next year will become head AD (while coaching, teaching, and 'Dean of Disciplining'). As far as I know.

Will this size class force them into 6A? No. I believe they would need at LEAST two of the four classes (if not three of the four) at the 170+ level to get near the 5A/6A dividing line for boys enrollment. I believe their current enrollment is right around 580 students total right now, and unless I'm mistaken, the smallest of the current 6A schools (with the exception of those who voluntarily opted up a division) are around 650-675. Even if they exceed the number, they'll still be in their current 5A district until the KHSAA once again re-aligns the football districts.
May 6, 201511 yr Is Tony related to Rob? Yes Yes, Tony is my first cousin. My dad and Tony's dad are brothers. I am very happy for Tony, he is a great guy and an incredible worker. I believe CovCath made a good choice. Congrats Cous!

May 6, 201511 yr What's driving the increase in CCH population? Anything in particular? New(ish) campus, keeping up with technology, offering more classes, and a bigger push with orientation.
