2015-16 16th Region

Featured Replies

Cause Elliott beat them. Rowan tried to press the whole game and it was ineffective. They were worn out late int eh 3rd.

So coaching cost Rowan the game?

Fair point about his jumper, but he will get to the rim at will against 16th region teams.

"Just like they will walk through the region".

The bottom line is Jordan Perry only gets credit given to him by Morgan fans. There are a few who also give him credit. But a lot who want to critique every aspect of his game. The kid can play regardless of who he plays for. I mean here is a kid that tied for 2nd in scoring last year. Let's try and focus on the good things the kid does. And a lot people give coach Perry so much crap due to kids either moving in or foreign exchange students. It happens in every region and on a lot of teams. But for some reason some of those other 16th region teams and their fans do nothing but put the Morgan co basketball program down. Who wouldn't take transfers or a foreign exchange student that can play?

Jeez, I think you're giving yourself and Morgan County too much credit. The rest of the region doesn't care about Morgan County as much as you're alluding to.

I sure hope so

Maybe they should.

I would expect more from a "bball legend".

No one said the kid wasn't a good player. But to put him in the same conversation as a few of the better players in the 16th is absurd. Rowan will struggle mightily to score without Callahan and Graham. They are not a threat to the best two teams which is Morgan and Elliott.

I just disagree but no big deal. A kid doesn't have to shoot his arm off to be a top player in the region.

To say that Rowan isn't a threat to Morgan and Elliott is laughable. The region will be wide open again next year, Morgan and Elliott aren't the runaway favorites.

Did Morgan beat Rowan last year?

No. The two teams played early in the year. Both progressed as the season went on. I believe Rowan County will be a good team, but beatable like every other team in the region.

Elliott County is beatable

Morgan County is beatable

Every other team is beatable

Just from reading these posts I figured Morgan beat them by 20 or so.

As someone posted earlier Rowan beat Morgan early in the year. Their experience really helped them I believe in that game. Callahan, and Graham are gonna be very difficult to replace. Morgan lost Reparth, again an all around good player who will also be hard to replace. Elliott lost Holbrook and Sloas. Guess it just depends on how much each team improves. I am not sure if Ben Jordan is even playing basket ball this coming year. I figure after his injury he may just focus on basketball. But if he plays and is healthy then West Carter should be much improved. East still has key guys who will be back. Boyd should be decent also. Then there is Fairview who return several good players. And you can never count out Lewis co with their great coach. I honestly don't believe neither Elliott or Morgan will be unbeatable. I just feel like they have the best chance at this point to return to the regional finals.

All this discussion proves is the region doesn't have a power team right now. The team who is working the hardest to improve in their weaknesses while we are having this discussion will be the one on top next Spring.
