Bryan Price With Five-Minute, 34-Second Expletive-Filled Tirade

Updated: A profane Bryan Price vents frustration

The Enquirer reported after Sunday's game that Mesoraco was not available for pinch-hitting duties in the Reds' 2-1 loss in St. Louis. When asked after the game if Mesoraco was a consideration in that spot, Price said he was not.

It was a truthful answer, if not a complete one.

The story did not sit well with Price. In his daily pregame interview with Fox Sports Ohio, Price answered the question about Mesoraco's whereabouts, starting, "Well, obviously he's not here. We broke that story last night, apparently," Price said.

The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.

What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the (some choice word edited) or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).

Lots of people picking up on the article now. It's going viral as the kids would say.

This isn't the 1930s where the media carried the water for the team and helped promote the game.

He is mad because a reporter reported?

I'm guessing he's sick of being criticized for having a short bench which is no fault of his own.

It's both his and Walts fault.

Not excusing his behavior but shouldn't the home reporters be a little more discreet when discussing player availability?

You know what, I've got zero problems with what he said. I think we've gotten to the point of expecting not only instantaneous information, but total and complete information. Heck, we don't get that from our government. We don't get it from our employers, or most anywhere else...but, we expect our sports teams to be an open book? No reason for it. But, now we've got reporters/broadcasters/bloggers and every other Joe Shmoe trying to one up each other, by having an exclusive tidbit to justify their existence.

I think the fans have a right to know why you pinch hit Pena with the game on the line vs your division rival instead of an guy who was an All-Star last year.

No.

No.

Agree. It is their job.

100% uncalled for. Price basically said a reporter shouldn't report on things he hears. So in other words a reporter shouldn't do his job. Sorry but the criticism for the roster decisions is more than necessary. I would love to know why the Reds are continually a player short.

Also I think Price is starting to crack under pressure. This managing thing might not be for him. More and more everyday MTGL is right
