I think Chas Moore from Beechwood deserves a little recognition, he is 7-0 with a .48 era... He may not be a top 5 pitcher in the state, but in my opinion he is in the top 25.

 

With #'s like that top 10 isnt out of the question

Southwestern's Ryan Branscum is among the states best...

He gets my vote. I watched them play couple days ago and the M's had a scout there watching him. I also had the chance to speak with him after the game and said that there was a few more MLB teams interested.

I've heard the kid from Bracken County, Colton Highlander, can bring it and is hearing from pro scouts.

If he throws in the low to mid 90's, he shouldnt need much defensive help

From what I was viewing at that game sunday, mutsch seemed like his fastball was only in the mid to upper 80's. I would have to say 85-88m.p.h. on most pitches, But he had great location with his fastball's and he pitched a great game. Not to say he is a bad pitcher or anything, but from what i have seen, he doesnt throw low 90's on a consistant basis, I think he may top out in the very low 90's but not consistantly.

"Only in the mid -upper 80,s and topping out in the low 90,s is excellant for a 17 year old kid. Watch the speeds during a Reds game some time. I feel that Nathen and Chris are the top 2 pitchers in Northern KY and those two dont always have to pitch with all they got. On a side note ,Nathan and Mr Curly will be teamates this summer playing For Walt Terrel and the Colonels.

Nathan Mutsch from Brossart... IMO is better than Curley.

After watching Beechwood play Campbell County Sat. I would say that Nathan and Travis Hurd are both better than Curly. He was hit very hard with nine hits and several line drive outs.Hurd threw harder and I know Nathan throws as hard as Hurd. Hurd struck out several Tigers including Curly, just had some bad luck which he has had all year. Since Travis nor Nathan play in the 9th region we can't win this argument.

Yeah, the Trinity kid that I was talking about's stats come from the stat site that we use. It ranks the high school teams and players stats in the state that use the site for stat input and figuring and such.

 

His name is Braxton Graven, He is 5-0 with a 0.00 ERA, with 36.00 Innings pitched. He has given up 10 hits, 2 runs none of which were earned. He has walked 15 batters and has recorded 50 K's.

 

His wins as posted on the site are against Owensboro High( 17 K game), Ryle, Shawnee High, Henry County, Lexington Catholic. and St. X.... If these stats are true and accurate, which I would assume they probably are... this kid appears to be a stud.

 

Anyone heard of him?

Yeah I ahve never actually seen him play but O Cath from what I hear is a very very tough team to beat. Anyone here actually seen him pitch etc. Whats he throwing mid to upper 80's or is he just filthy with breaking balls change ups, and a mediocre fastball.

Well you might be right about the 9th region argument, but it always a pleasure to watch any of these top notch pitchers pitch , regardless of team or region. Over the last few years have watched Chris Curly , Nathan Mutsch , Travis Hurd and many other. They dont dissapoint very often. And I made a note of Chris and Nathan playing together this summer as teamates, that will be fun to watch. Beechwood also has Chas moore who is an excellant pitcher. All these guys have bright futures.:thumb:

Your right about the summer teams. I think Hurd is pitching for the Ky. Royals with Farris catching him. Should be some great match-ups if the Colonals and Royals meet, which I am sure they will. Will be fun to watch.
