There are 300 + Fort Thomas kids playing in that league with a lot more than 9 teams playing. They are not permitted to use the Woodfill fields. Where are the rest of the fields? Moyer? That's not a field. River road? Perhaps for t-ball but nothing else. Highlands should not get a priority over that many kids.

Why can't the Woodfill fields be used, they are owned by the city aren't they? Also what is wrong with Rossford that has four fields or Store Field in the center of town.There's five fields that could have been used. I don't know where you get off saying Highlands shouldn't have priority. The little league football program has more kids playing and they don't seem to have issues with finding places to practice. Since I'm a tax payer in Ft. Thomas I say the High School teams get first priority over any little league teams. Those high school players have worked hard to get where they'er at and they deserve some RESPECT! Obviously you have no respect for Highlands.:fire:

I went by Woodfield today and there were 2 young teams practicing there so they are being used.

If the City and Highlands worked an agreeable schedule out from the beginning, then it would solved a lot of heartache. If they did have a schedule already, then the coach at Highlands needs to plan his Varsity AND JV practices more efficiently.

I don't hate HHS. I just think this whole scenario is a moot point if some people would plan better. Look at Meinken, a city park that is shared by Holmes (Varsity and JV), Holy Cross (Varsity and sometimes JV), and Latin. Does Buerger have any control of the situation as city rec director?

No hater here. I have 4 going through HHS and HMS right now. Iwas just perturbed by the fact that someone bashes a little league team for showing up for their scheduled practice.

Not by the Fort Thomas Jr Baseball League. Some little league has those fields. I suppose they are paying the city for the use. That is something being looked into.

I have 3 kids in the Ft. Thomas Schools including one at HHS. I am also a board member of the Jr. League. Nice try. I simply think that since it's a city park supported by tax dollars of all the tax paying citizens a league supporting 300 of it's kids deserves the same priority as a team supporting 30? kids.

It's funny that a parent from outside of HHS is complaining about the use of someone else's facilty. I often go up and watch the HHS football team practice. It really suprises me how many soccer teams use HHS football field after the football is finished. Remember this field was funded by HHS Booster's and faithfull fans, not by the Ft. Thomas taxpayers. I see many of the St. Catherine and St. Thomas parents watching their kids practice on this field. Highlands allows the city to use the field for other's to use. I don't know why the city would not allow HHS baseball to have full controll of the park during their season?

The use of the football field for soccer only occurs in the spring, so football is over. The use of that field comes at a pretty steep price if you ask me. The problem is that the recreation department does not worry about the upkeep/improvement of the baseball diamonds in the city. You cannot practice at Storrs field as someone suggested. Woodfill fields are used by Knothole teams. Rossford park has four fields which are probably the only ones used by the Junior Baseball League. Honestly, the way that Highland Park is configured (grass infield) does not make it conducive for little league softball/baseball. Perhaps a little more pressure needs to be put on Berger to improve the parks/baseball fields.

If you read all my posts you would know that I have 3 kids in the schools, including Highlands. The football field is not an issue, although the original idea began as fields at Highlands Park for the Jr Football league, if I'm not mistaken. MANY people contributed to that field, including myself. In addition, the city did contribute(taxpayer money). I think you will also find that many of those parents of ST Catherine and St Thomas kids also contributed. Part of the reason used to generate all that support was it's use for teams other than HHS. This is about the baseball field in a city park which makes it every citizen's field, not just HHS'. I really wish HHS did have their own field, they deserve it; but as things stand right now they will continue to have to share the field with the other city kids.

A schedule should be made for the fields and strictly adhered to. Priorities should be built into the schedule. If a team is expected to be done at 5:30, then they need to get off the field at 5:30. If another team is damaging the field, then that should be brought up first with the coach. If there is no satisfactory answer from the coach, then you can take it to the city parks offices. While I appreciate the amount of work that HHS does to the field, it does not create ownership, nor does it increase there priority.

I don't blame the little leaguers or their coaches at all. My nephew is in Little League.
