The big guy from MMI was on the invitee list. Saihou Jassy made the team last year, and he never played a game in Kentucky, so the MMI guy would appear to be just as "qualified" as Jassy.

I thought he was at Rose Hill??

Not good at all.

My statement was not meant to tilt against Allen, but to defend Penick. He should have made the team. Penick has height to defend the post, can run the court, play the perimeter, score in the post, has some range, decent handles, good court vision, can help throw over Indy's press, and offers versatility.

Jassy went to Rose Hill, and Greenup County before that, but he was ruled ineligible at both schools and never played an official game in Kentucky.

Remember the thread on BGP about Jassey last season, I don't think he ever played a minute of HS ball in this state yet they invited him to tryout, that was a mess.

It appears they needed the 3-point shooting and rebounding of 6'1" state sensation Kevin Allen. Its going to be hard to understand how they selected Allen over Ludlow's Penick.

I've said all year long that Kevin Allen and Shawn Thompson from Lawrence Co are the 2 most underrated, best kept secrets in the state.

For you to question Allen's ability shows me that you have never seen him play! He has all kinds of game! Ogden will dominate everybody inside and KY's only chance is with kids like Allen that can light it up on a given night from the outside. Kevin's dad played at Georgia Tech so he has a pretty decent pedigree! I think it's a good pickup and I'm glad he got his chance to show what he could do in the tryouts. It's not like they pick favorites, everybody had their shot in tryouts and obviously they liked what they saw from him!

Stripes...different position...not even close!

nice observations , I agree

Maze Stallworth not making the team is the biggest suprise to me.

I agree, the kid was impressive at Transy All Star Game. But at the same time, he wasnt much of a TEAM player, which I believe a lot of kids got rooted out due to that reason.

Selecting a team "representative of the state" is ridiculous. You reward the best players, period. Why should a kid from Lexington or Louisville get punished or discriminated against so token players are added to the list.

I agree, but why should a EASTERN KY player get left out because he is from EASTERN KY?

Works both ways.

No, it doesn't. The point you're trying to make isn't the same one he was.

Who has been left off the team simply because he was from eastern Kentucky?

Walt Allen won't score in double figures in either game for Kentucky. This will go down as one of the most lopsided series in the history, despite the great coaching efforts of Riley.

Only the top four leading scorers in the State this year, that is all.:thumb:

But hey, I know, scoring isnt everything.....

After watching them play, I believe Owens is as good as there is in the State, and Gilbert is right there too.
