If I (and this is just me) believe that candidate A will do his/her best to keep us out of war/end existing US involvement in war and candidate B will not, I will overlook an awful lot. Regardless of party affiliation. Problem is that you can never believe any candidate when it comes to that. President Obama garnered huge support from independents talking about closing Gitmo and bringing the troops home ASAP...then the reality of the situation hit him and he wasn't able to do either. IMO you can only take a candidate for what they say a small amount and it is more about past actions. That tells who they really are, not who they want you to see.
