March 27, 201511 yr http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/craig-t-nelson-return-coach-nbc-article-1.2164260 Craig T. Nelson is returning to the sidelines for a new season of the '90s sitcom "Coach." NBC brass says the 70-year-old actor will reprise his role as D1 football coach Hayden Fox in a story that picks up two decades or so after the original show ended. "Coach Hayden Fox, in the present day, has retired from coaching. He is called back to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy league school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team," NBC said, according to EW.com. The show's 13 episodes will be shot in traditional multi-cam style, is being headed up by original executive producer Barry Kemp. There was no word whether co-stars Jerry Van Dyke, who played defensive coordinator Luther, Bill Fagerbakke, who played jock doofus Dauber, or any other original cast members would return for the new show. Nelson recently ended a successful run playing family patriarch Zeek Braverman on the NBC's "Parenthood." News of the return of "Coach" comes days after Fox announced it would be reviving another '90s hit show, "The X-Files," for a six-episode miniseries.
March 27, 201511 yr I loved the show, but I can't be the only one that sees that this will fail terribly.
March 27, 201511 yr Sorry but without Luther and Dauber no thanks. I'd love to see the original guys back as well but Van Dyke is 83. Don't know how long he'd last on the new series if at all. Shelley Fabres looks a little worn since Coach Days:
