I don't know if I agree with all of his personal beliefs on social issues and war, but I love that he takes the stance of smaller government.

Yes because your statement isn't entirely true. Sure there are people in the National party who don't want him and want someone like Bush or Christie. But Rand Paul has his backers including McConnell who owes Paul and there isn't a bigger player in the GOP party right now than Mitch.

 

Rand also has a network built across this country and support of a majority of local GOP parties.

 

So yes there are people in the GOP who want status quo and plenty of money behind the idea. But if anyone thinks Rand doesn't have a chance in the primary then you either aren't paying attention or don't understand the inner workings of the GOP right now.

 

I'm not saying he is a lock but he will be one of the front runners and final candidates when it's all said and done.

I think you are correct.

They are a few things I like about Rand Paul. #1 is term limits for Congress. But isn't it weird he hasn't introduced that in a bill to congress and he has the ability too.

Rand Paul's a clown but I do believe he wants the best for the nation not just the best for his Conservative party. I do like his some of his foreign policy especially cutting out aid to countries who don't need it.

This isn't a secondary issue for him, it's been one of his key points he has made since he joined the Senate.

It's certainly not based on much in the way of empirical data so...

 

I don't see how someone who is not inside the circle can win. He's clearly not. He's the only potential candidate to not get invited to the NRA convention. His base has a lot of younger, libertarian-leaning people. Those people historically do not roll out to vote. Fairly or unfairly, he's seen as odd. He doesn't have traditional views of Rs who show up for primaries in areas such as military, marijuana, and govt surveillance.

 

Can he pull his dad's supporters? If not then he has no chance IMO. Can he then pull enough of the people who actually show up to primaries? That's where I struggle.

 

He may be one of those candidates that has a better chance in the general election than he does in the primary.
