March 23, 201511 yr Other than post disaster? It's not IMO. At some point a gas price will cause us to change our behavior and stop buying as much gas. However' date=' until then they're in a strong position.[/quote'] Demand has been at an all time low for years hasn't it?
March 23, 201511 yr Demand where? US vehicle miles driven are way down. The economies in Europe/Russia shouldn't have demand up over there.
March 23, 201511 yr US vehicle miles driven are way down. The economies in Europe/Russia shouldn't have demand up over there. Demand has decreased worldwide but it's not been for very long. Lower demand is reflected in the price of oil. OPEC not cutting back on production has also kept oil prices lower. However, remember that when the price of oil gets too low companies can longer afford to do new drilling so that big supply source will dry up. Some think that is OPEC's goal and the reason for them not cutting back on production. Average gas prices are the lowest they've been in about 6 or 7 years.

They can build cities in their country for $10 a barrel. They fear long term losing their place in the market which in many ways has already happened.

The United States will be the worlds largest producer of oil sooner rather than later.
March 23, 201511 yr Shale drilling has completely changed the game. The United States will be the worlds largest producer of oil sooner rather than later. Maybe. If oil prices stay low it seems like it will cause less drilling. I read that the break-even is estimated at $65 per barrel.
March 24, 201511 yr Author Gas 'heat map' USA National Gas Price Heat Map - GasBuddy.com If you zoom a little on Kentucky it shows that Kentucky may have widest variance of average prices than another state. The current price differential between Louisville and Bardstown is $2.57-$2.72 (Lousville) and $2.00-$2.14 (Bardstown area). Its not like they are on opposite sides of the state. Most states are more consistent with pricing. You can see the states with higher taxes like Pennsylvania and NY and, of course, California.
March 24, 201511 yr Got it for $2.12 Tuesday but it's still $2.49 near home as the Ft Thomas BP continues to gouge. Always !!!
March 24, 201511 yr Back up to 2.49 in my area. Same in mine, we're gonna be at $2.60 - $2.75 all summer I'm thinking, that's the hope at this point.
