ColonelCrazy Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 My wife & I will be attending a "destination wedding" this year. I am currently scouting flights. Allegiant Airlines is the only flight that offers a nonstop flight to the closest airport. Unfortunately, Allegiant only travels on Thursdays & Sundays. The wedding is on a Sunday, so we cannot do "round trip" on Allegiant. I have never flown Allegiant, but I know that there are some "hidden fees" in these prices (i.e. extra to reserve a seat, extra to check a bag, etc.). The one way flight itself is only $89, but then we'd have to take a one-way flight home with one of the bigger airlines. I love the fact that Allegiant's trip is nonstop because all of the other options require at least 1 stop, but Allegiant's limited flight schedule worries me. If, for whatever reason, our flight down on Thursday becomes problematic, I can't imagine the horror scene when I tell my wife that there are no flights out until Sunday. My question for BGP: how many hidden fees are there with Allegiant?

My question for BGP: how many hidden fees are there with Allegiant? Flown it to Ft. Lauderdale before. I want to say my flight was a little over $200 dollars. Only had a carry on, though. Can't remember my hidden fees being crazy expensive. Reasonable and still cheaper than flying with anyone else.
Cats3x Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The only hidden fee is the choose your seat. If you don't choose they'll split you and your wife up. Last time I took their plane, it was like $17 for each way. But it's still cheaper than anyone else.
nkypete Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Fees - carry on bags, checked bags, seat selection, drinks, and snacks. On our trip to Las Vegas, they even sold tickets for shows and excursions. That said, I think, all in all, Allegiant did a fine job. Don't expect first class, because it doesn't exist. Everybody is friendly and the flights were smooth enough and arrived safely. I'm glad that they are at CVG.

Big Slick Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Luggage fees if you have checked or carry on not much difference. We never pick seats for extra and only been separated twice out of several flights. Some people will switch seats with you. But like was said earlier, not a high class airline. Not many extras.

Cats3x Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 $17??? Where did you go - from CVG to Lunken??? Was talking about the seat selection not the total flight.
mexitucky Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 We are flying to Ft Lauderdale next Friday from CVG on Allegiant.

Beechwoodfan Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I have mostly heard good things so far. Only negative I have heard is that if there are mechanical problems there may not he a plane to replace it, and you may get stuck. Allegiance does not have agreements with other airlines to help get passengers places when a flight is cancelled. I'm have only HEARD this. Haven't known anyone with this issue. My nieces just got back from spring break and flew Allegiant with no problems.
coldweatherfan Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Is Florida where your destination is? Allegiant flys into multiple airports on different days. Several of them are are barely an hour apart. I fly in to Clearwater most of the time. But if I need to get there the day before. Sanford Field and Punta Gorda fly on different days. There have been a few times I've flown into one and out of another. Also I think they fly out of Dayton too, if you can arrange transport. I fly from LEX to Clearwater at least once a month for almost 2 years. Have only had one delay of more than a few minutes. To me the only real negative is that you are limited as to the days of the week they fly.
doomer Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I flew Allegiant to Las Vegas a few years ago, and the prices was very good. I did get an unexpected extra cost returning from Las Vegas, as I recall, I had to check a bag I had carried on from Lex, and I had to pay a fee to do this.

Hopefully this does not become an issue, but it is worth noting that there are several other airports in the vicinity.

Near Cinci it's: Columbus, LEX, CVG, and Indianapolis. In Florida it's: Fort Lauderdale, Punta Gorda, Clearwater, Orlando, and Jacksonville.
