Regardless, I hope to see Holman play better and more often this year. Kid was saddled with foul problems the entire game last year and I felt bad for him. He's obviously a talent.

I'd like Holman to do well and the beast , Miller who has a great moves underneath and is a huge body...if he has a good game it will give Owensboro a good shot at moving on.

Going in blind I'll say Owensboro by 9. Anybody got any info on Collins? Main players? Do they have size? Guard orientated?

 

I saw them twice, Monday (live vs Owen Co and Tuesday (online vs Oldham Co)

 

-Guard oriented. They go with four guards and a post player. Kidwell, Cochran, and Test were big against Owen, and the fourth guard, Clarkson, had a big "layup and one" out of an out of bounds that was huge in the last two minutes.

-Good quickness.

-They grind out long possessions, they don't beat themselves much with TOs and bad shots.

-They dont shoot a real high percentage, but those three I mentioned above can shoot from the perimeter.

-Fundamentally sound team defense. Not many open looks against them

-They press a little bit, but not sure if they will a lot against Owensboro. They don't do it much to force turnovers as just to grind and wear on you if you are not a deep team.

-Not overly big, I would guess those four starting guards are all around 5-11 to 6-1, and they'll run a couple of 6-4 or 6-5 kids in to play the "5". BTW, those bigger kids held their own against Carson Williams the other night (he got 17-15)

-If you get behind them in the last couple of minutes, you are in trouble. Cochran hits around 90% at the line, and Kidwell and Test are around 70%.

I'm sure Collins will be looking for a little "Hail Mary" payback but I think OHS has too much experience and focus to slip up in the first round. All the talk after the game tonight was the first round game. I think Collins needs OHS to be looking past them but I can tell y'all that it won't happen. Gimme OHS by 10.

You're right! I'm going senile lol. Collins was legit in football 2 years ago. I'm glad they beat highlands. Of course, OHS is going to have to exact some revenge at Rupp.

They're huge. But I believe in our senior backcourt to control this game.

The inside will be huge advantage for O. Collins will have to shoot the 3 well. Gaither will come up with a good defensive game plan. Collins has played well against everyone they played, except that one game at Oldham. Took Henderson to the wire who I considered one of the best teams in the state. Collins must stay out of foul trouble. Loan weakness is lack of bench.

Owensboro has had a tendency to play lethargic against some teams, at this point they should be ready for anything, they gave up about 10 3 pointers to Harrisburg (IL) , and probobly more than that to Wayne County...So defending the 3 should be a hot point with Coach Drake.

Owensboro played more intense in the region than at any time this season...killing a meade Co. team that just beat Apollo, they killed Muhlenburg in the semi's - Miller is 6-7 and a beast and Holman this year vs. last year is NO comparison - they will be ready. My guess is Collins will play stall-ball as they will not want to run with the Devils. If they run, OHS by 20+. Either way I think OHS beats them.

It does seem that they may be peaking but those teams in the region they played were not as good as Collins, I agree that if its a run and gun it favors the Red Devils

I disagree! Collins will and can push the ball very well. They are athletic just gonna be undersized. Owensboro will not put a trio of guards on the floor to match Collins. If Collins has a decent shooting night watch out.

Actually Owensboro runs 4 gaurds often... Sanford ,Morrow ,Phillips and Harris they can and will hold there own..but there not the Red Devils strong point' that's the bigs inside...
