A tradition of choking!!!!

 

Can you give some examples of how 43 Regional Championships and 4 State Championships is any where near choking?????

As weak as the 3rd is year to year and the talent that Owensboro consistently has just cements my statement as being true. Im not saying the red devils aren't a great team. I was just stating that athletic ability has been shut down numerous times in their history by more fundamental basketball teams. Collins has athletes and play great defensive ball.

 

 

 

First off this is the Owensboro vs Collins thread, not a 3rd region

 

Second, Collins has zero tradition in Basketball because there a new school.

 

Just dont get the attack on one of the greatest high school basketball programs in this states history.

I'll take Owensboro. They got moonlite BBQ! Hard to beat!

I just want to say that nothing being said on here is in anyway derogatory toward Collins...but to attack Owensboro's tradition is useless...this should be one of the closest an most competitive first round games...

 

What would be considered a good crowd by first round standards.

My guess Collins will bring 5-6,000 people or more.

Best first round attendance I can remember would be 1978 Shelby County vs Edmonson Co. Old freedom Hall and Sold out at 16,600. Big time back in those days.

I've heard that OHS has sold their allotment of tickets. I doubt I'll be able to make it though, but I'll still be rooting hard for the Devils!

Oops. Shelby and Edmonson County played in the semi-finals in 1976.

 

In 1978, Shelby played previously-unbeaten Apollo in a first round game. THAT was something. It was speculated by many that it was the state championship game...only on Thursday afternoon. Sure enough, the Rockets won that game...and the whole she-bang.

That is right, my mistake it was Apollo in a rematch from the finals of the LIT.

I thought it was cool that Governor Martha Layne Collins came and talked to the team before the big school-wide sendoff this morning. I'm sure she is so proud of the amazing accomplishments of her namesake school in such a short period of time, which includes so much more than basketball (and athletics). I bet she can give a good pep talk too.

 

I like the Titans' chances tomorrow. Collins has a smart, fundamentally sound basketball team that is well coached, plays really good defense and has some great shooters. They will obviously have a size disadvantage (and experience with their first ever trip to Rupp), but they have played quite a few teams this year with a lot of size and that hasn't prevented them from beating those teams. I hope the Titans have a great crowd to support them tomorrow after all this team has accomplished during what was viewed by some as likely a down year. I would love to see Coach Gaither and his team win a few games while they're at it. I'm sure this won't be Gaither's last trip to Rupp.
