Hopkinsville 59 Henderson County 54 (2nd Region Semifinals)

Were the rankings off on Hendo or are the rankings off on teams from the rest of the state that are ranked above Hoptown??? My guess is the later of the two.... Bowling Green, Hoptown, Owensboro, and Graves/Murray will represent the Western part of the State well in the State Tourney.... I just hope the rankings next year will be a better reflection of the talented teams around the "Entire State" and not just the areas where the people ranking the teams live...

Well what's ur opinion on those teams representing western ky...how do u feel they stack up...not much press on here..mostly central an eastern part of the state..which is what it is..not complaining just seems they are usually the central topic...Is Bowling Green an Owensboro for real in ur opnion

Of the teams from Western Ky, I only believe Owensboro or Hopkinsville have a chance to win state. Bowling Green is a very good team but I don't think they have the firepower to win in their draw. Murray/Graves will most likely exit in the 1st round against a very strong KCC.

IF and its a big IF, Hopkinsville gets by Taylor County, I think they have a very good chance of making the finals.

A VERY young Bowling Green team is as good as Owensboro and Hoptown... Bowling green starts 2 Sophomores and a third is their 6th man. They played Owensboro earlier this season and it took 4 quarters and Overtime for Owensboro to beat the Purples... Let's not forget that Bowling Green has 2 starters and 2-3 other players back that contributed to their final four run last year.

Problem for the Purples are Knott County Central and Ballard (if Manual doesn't pull the upset). They should win their 1st round game against the 16th.

Yeah..Bowling Green is dangerous.. Owensboro beat them twice this year actually..once in Bowling Green..Should be a great tourney tho....Taylor County had a great showing at King of the Bluegrass.. That first round game between the 2nd and 5th region will be a great game

This was a great basketball game between two outstanding programs but the Colonels were just outplayed and out coached, The Tigers D was amazing, no 3 point shots from Hendo, I think 1-10, never gave them a good look. The Grays and Matlock played great, Simmons was his usual self but waited too late to get going, really didn't get going until the end of the third and then scored 9 straight. Simmons was named player of the year in region 2 and Smithhart Coach of the year. It has to be disappointing for Smithhart and the Hendo brass because of his connections, he was given the job knowing this bunch of seniors would have a good chance to break the 8th district stronghold on the region title. In the end just like Mark Starns run at Hendo, it did not happen.

I would have to agree, Hoptown's defense was really good tonight. They had a little bit of a lull in the 4th by giving up the baseline which they didn't do most of the game, and really contested the 3 point shot. If they play D like that the rest of the way, they will be a very tough out. Hoptown has been a different team since that embarrassing blowout to Trinity.

Me too. They could use some objectivity. Damn biased guys doing the rankings.

Looks like the whole region were haters of Hoptown. They missed out on Coach and Player of the year the past few seasons but they never let it get them down and kept on winning. Could be another great season in the next few years also as they have some young players back.

Heyworth Coach of the Year and Matlock Player of the Year!:):):):):):):):)

Geez rankings were off a lil on Hendo

Not true at all. Henderson deserved to be a top 5 team without a doubt. It isn't a huge stretch to think a top 5 team can be upset by a top 15 team.

Nope. That means your rankings were off and biased. :lol2:

No hater here, I picked the Tigers to win the region early in several different posts. Heyworth is one of the best coaches in the state, not only the 2nd region and Matlock a very good player. I notice little things about coaches that many feel are silly. For instance, Heyworth fist bumped the Henderson players last night as they were introduced. When the Tiger players were introduced, not Smithhart or any of the upteen Hendo coaches recognized the Tiger players as they were introduced. All of the Tiger players had a funny look when no one was there to fist bump, no respect. Might be silly to some but not to me or I would suspect the Tiger players.

Guess they can hate some more tonight as it is 4 in a row for HHS. Has not been done in a long time since Dawson Springs in the 40's

I think the rankings were biased some. Just look back at the thread when Henderson went to Lexington and left the ranks of the unknown from western Kentucky to top 10. Personally I think both of them were deserving of being in the top 10. Hayworth does a very good job with who he gets to coach each year. There are 3 schools in Christian County and those 3 schools have won the second region since 2001. One of those schools will deserve to be in the top 10 next year. I will tell you which one sometime in October. I hope the Tigers represent the second region well this year.
