Congrats to the Lady Royals. Very young and talented. In regards to the no juniors or seniors subject, there were numerous students that played but in the past few years have had conflict with the coach for some reason or another. The last senior, Cara Green quit in the middle of this season.

Now this I find interesting, to play all that time and to quit.

I only know this being a problem with one player. Some of the problem is that that are no Juniors and Seniors better than our better than the girls playing now. These girls play well together and has for several years. It is called Team Chemistry!

Just like the ole saying, free throws wins championships. Whitney O'Mara and Brianna Littleton sealed the deal with their clutch free throw shooting and a tremendous team effort. For the size that GRC has they did an amazing job rebounding and not letting Skinner and the other big girl get good post position. Just a winning effort on all ends of the Mason County side yesterday.

Diddle denied: Clark falls to Mason in region finals

The Lady Cards (21-11) edged the Lady Royals 45-43 during the regular-season in Winchester and defeated Mason County 41-37 in the regional semifinals in Maysville last season, but couldn't repeat the feat for a third time in a year. The Lady Royals avenged the two losses and earned its first trip to the state tournament since 1987. Clark, the defending regional champion, lost to Elizabethtown in the state semifinals last season.

“It's a very tough loss,” Clark coach Robbie Graham said. “Anytime you lose your last game of the season it's tough, especially for your seniors. Mason County is a really tough team. We got beat by a better team today.”

Mason County (21-11) will play the 3rd Region winner at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Western Kentucky's Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.

“They girls played hard,” Graham said. “They got us down a couple of times and we battled back and gave ourselves an opportunity to win, it just didn't happen.”

Clark made just four threes on its home floor and connected on just 7 of 15 free throws.

“That's been our bugaboo, we haven't shot free throws (well) all year,” Graham said. “It's one of those things we've worked on and it was one of those nights.”
