Such a pet peeve of mine - telling people where the officers are on the public highways.

 

You don't know who or what they are looking for when parked there. Leave them alone and let them do their job. If someone is speeding, it's their tough luck to get pulled over. Slow down and it doesn't happen to you.

I use it all the time and report things like accidents, traffic, and yeah, speed traps.

 

It has saved me a few times too.

I wonder if speeding will be more civil in the future. I also wonder how speeding will mesh with computers driving cars. Think about it, 50 years from now you better not have an accident if you switch your car into manual drive mode.

 

On the app, what a slippery slope, eventually all you will have to do is point your phone at a cop, press one button, and that information will automatically be uploaded to a real time matrix that will be an invaluable tool for all criminals.

What I am saying everyone is personally I don't give two hoots if people use a tool like this to avoid speeding tickets. Really no big deal. But the future implications will be off the chart.

I will go one step further, applications like this are exactly the justification the government is going to use in the future to monitor our every move. Cameras, drones, credit transactions, vehicle movement, cell phone movement, etc. will all be monitored.

 

In other words, be careful what you wish for because with technology it is almost always going to have unintended consequences that you will despise.

I only use this app when I am traveling. It uses a lot of data and I do not have unlimited data. If I used this every day I would use up my data plan fast. The information is based on the people who have the app and report stuff. If you are on less traveled roads, the information will not be that updated. If you are in the city or a major highway, the information is usually pretty good. It warns of accidents and alternative routes and slow traffic. I agree with the electronics and tracking issues (Person of Interest). You have to wonder if we will ever be able to get off the grid in the future.
