9th region schedule updated 3/4/15

Since the district tourney will always be played, and both the district winner and runner-up will go, then why not seed the eight team Regional tournament, and avoid the top-heavy bottom bracket that we have this year. Seeds 1-2 would be either CovCath or New Cath, seeds 3-4 would be either Dixie or Holmes, seeds 5-6 would be either Cooper or Boone Co, and seeds 7-8 would be eith St. Henry or Newport. Run the bracket from there. That eliminates 4 of the top 5 being placed in the same bracket, as apparently has happened. Only a thought.

Sounds like you are putting no value on winning your District, is this true?

So how do you decide who's the #1 , #2 , #3 , etc...

Who is doing the seeding?

You, and four of your closest friends. (kidding of course). Media, former coaches, or even some of the well-versed people here. I think most people on here, if voting, would have St Henry and Newport (or visa-versa) as 7 and 8 seed. There is no way both of those should be in the top bracket together. Make the season count for something, by seeding whichever 8 teams make it to the Regional.

AT this point in the season the days between games should not matter. You are either in good enough condition to handle it or you arent. Its good preparation for the State Tourney.

Saturday's games will conflict with the Kentucky Wildcats going for 31-0 and an undefeated regular season. I would imagine this could hurt.

I'll play. This year's region tournament would like like this if they went off my rankings and seeded:

1 Covcath

8 Newport

4 Holmes

5 Cooper

3 Dixie Heights

6 Boone Co

7 St Henry

2 Newcath

Only difference would be St Henry and Holmes switching so is seeding really the answer?

One district champ is going to have a tough first round game most years for the simple fact that Covcath and Holmes are top 3 or 4 every year.

You certainly could see holes in this right off the bat though. Didn't Dixie just beat CCH pretty handily a couple of weeks ago? Why would CCH be the 1 seed? There would be NO ONE in this area and specifically this web site that could objectively seed the teams.

Very simple why CCH would be the #1 seed because they have more wins against the top 4 teams.

Beaten Holmes twice and NCC once and lost once to Dixie. 3-1 against top 4 teams

Dixie has beaten CCH but lost to Holmes and NCC. 1-2 against the top 4 teams.

College basketball has a panel of "experts" and often do a terrible job with seeding. My point is that there are too many opinions and bias, especially on boards like this to be able to accurately seed a tourney. There are not enough people that are truly in the middle. You can argue all you want about CCH being the one seed based on what you think the best criteria is. I can just as easily argue another team is worthy of the 1. CCH is a very good team and may very well win the region but you can look at it from the perspective of what team is playing better right now. Dixie just man handled CCH a couple of weeks ago, so many would not rank CCH #1 .

Seeding will NEVER happen. Too many people invested to get a fair seeding.

Plus, why? What problems are we having that would cause the 9th region board to consider a change?

Agreed 100%

But seeding isn't about what team is maybe playing better right now, it's about the entire body of the regular season at least in my eyes.

That is my whole point. Seeding is in the eye of the beholder and there would not be a fair way to do it that would satisfy everyone. In other words, leave it alone.

Oh I agree with you 100% to leave it alone I was just playing the hypothetical game. :thumb:

I had (still have) tickets for the Wed. Mar. 4 games (CCH/Newport & St. Henry/Cooper) games at BOKC. Anyone know if the tix will work for today?

I can't imagine they wouldn't work.

Yes, their scanners will accept the "session" tickets.
