Source tells me Eagles would’ve cut LeSean McCoy and were just calling around to find *anything* for him. Bills only took 20min to say yes.

Wow. Cut McCoy? Now? I wonder the reasoning behind it. Maybe something more to the story? I don't know. McCoy was down last year but I still don't feel like that was his fault. I hate to see his time in Philly end in this manner.

If this were the Patriots the move would be seen as genius. Now the Pats have more to hang their hat on, but don't over think this too much. The money differential is the biggest thing. We've also had constant discussion on here about RBs having little-to-no value and McCoy has had A LOT of mileage (on not a huge body) even in a short career. Getting lost with this trade is how good Kiko is. We are talking maybe All Pro level good. Yet to be seen how he comes back from the ACL tear obviously.

 

In full disclosure though, I do hate losing Shady from the Eagles.

Bryce Brown actually played for the Bills last year. He had a great run late in the season where he fumbled it on the 5 yard line that cost Buffalo the game and likely a playoff spot.

Good point. I guess this is where I expect team and player to work out a cap friendly deal but then I realize that isn't possible. :lol2:

I read Kiko missed an entire season in college due to injury and now had already missed one in the NFL. He good but have we seen enough to call him an all pro? The Bills defense was still pretty darn good without him last year.

I wish I can say I was confident. There is no way to slice other than they are trading away, what everyone would acknowledge, is their best player. Well, at least their best playmaker. Jason Peters is their best player. Chip thinks he is the smartest guy in the room, and he may be that. But I still doubt a lot of tactics.

If 4.2 ypc and 1300 yds is losing it then I want some. He's only 27.

Confused on this trade because they basically got nothing in return.

 

Maybe some cap space but they don't have a solid RB to replace him with.

As a former season ticket holder, and lifetime Eagles fan, I can tell you most of Philly is pretty upset right now, and Chip better be right or he is getting run out of town. McCoy had an up and down year last, that statistically ended up being pretty good. I think there is a good chance that McCoy has already had his best year, and could fall off that running back cliff very soon. That being said, I don't think they got great value in this trade. We will see next year how good Chips system is.

 

I also have to say I think I'm responsible for the trade. I just bought my son a McCoy jersey for Christmas, which continues my streak of bad luck. Every jersey I've ever bought, that player has either gotten hurt or traded that following year.

Josina Anderson of ESPN, citing an unnamed source close to LeSean McCoy, reports that McCoy is “frustrated” by the news that he’ll be sent to the Bills.

 

“He’s a Pennsylvania kid,” the source told Anderson. “He’s never played football outside of Pennsylvania — high school, college, pro. So of course he’s not happy. Sounds like it’s pretty final to me unless LeSean is refusing to go to Buffalo.”

 

Of course, refusing to go to Buffalo would mean not earning $10.25 million in 2015, ultimately being cut by the Eagles, and then being forced to find $10.25 million on the open market.

 

“It’ll be interesting to see how this process plays itself out because he’s an interesting individual,” the source said. “In your mind, when you think of Buffalo you think of cold and losing games. It’s not like it’s the Philadelphia market where you’re always on [TV] and you’re playing for like the division title or that type of thing.”

We're talking running backs guys. For the most part a dime a dozen. And McCoy had a big hit on their cap. Fans of "the hoddie" should like this move because it will turn out I believe to be very Patriots like when it's all said and done. They will be able to sign some players, have some depth and still end up with a rb who did at least what Shady did last year. Bank on it.

Good point. It shouldn't be too hard to find a RB for cheap that you can use improperly.
