Trinity staying close to home.

We have gotten used to seeing Trinity play a very strong regional schedule including teams from Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and even Florida the last several years. I was kinda shocked to see only two games against out of state competition and only one game played outside of Jefferson County this season.

So is this the new trend, playing more Kentucky teams (and less regional powers) or an aberration for the Flag Ship team in the state?

Trinity's 2015 Schedule

August 14 (TBD – scrimmage)

August 21 Ensworth High School (Nashville, Tenn.)

August 28 @ Brentwood Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) Academy

September 4 Lafayette High School

September 11 @ Male High School

September 18 Pleasure Ridge Park High School

September 25 @ Jeffersontown High School

October 2 St. Xavier High School @ Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium

October 9 Eastern High School

October 16 Seneca High School

October 23 @ Ballard High School

October 30 Open

Hearing an aberration...but we'll see. They had to hire a company to help with the last schedule.....if the return isn't enough...they may stick to this format short term.

They had to hire a company to help with the last schedule? Really?

Yes. That's how we played Imhotep (sp?).

This isn't new news....this more local schedule. There was a big, long discussion about it a while back. I'll see if I can find it.

That's still a tough schedule for any team that's not Trinity.

I rarely read Trinity threads so I apologize if I'm rehashing old stuff. I didn't think it was new or news, I just noticed the schedule today.

No apology necessary. :thumb: I just see this going down the same road as the previous thread. :D

Redistricting has something to do with it too. Trinity now has 3 new teams on the schedule that are local because of the new district. Keeping Male on the schedule helps with quality OOD and staying local.

Trinity 112 wins with nine losses all-time againt these district rivals.

I'm an SK graduate and I love seeing Trinity play a meaningful schedule. Mostly because it tells the rest of the state how they stack up. I have no problem with this schedule. Like the Trinity folks said it's a numbers game unfortunately. I'd love for them to play the other Trinity some day though.

So you're saying there's a chance.

Cue the video:

Kudos to Male and PRP for scheduling T in non-district game. The ONLY way JCPS schools will be able to beat them is to get to know them and not make them out to be some kind of 'invincible monster' to your players. Male has proven this in recent years--last year's playoff game notwithstanding--beating them twice.

Got to play them at the lower levels too in my opinion. Definitely will be tough for a frosh or JV team to beat what they do as you don't get to do full scouting reports as you would on varsity, but this at least gets those kids used to what they do. Coverdale does such a good job offensively that they do is too tough to prepare for if you haven't been in action against it before. And their defense is usually just so sound you have to play against it to try and find what will work best for your offense.

Nice assessment Coach and applaud your philosophy & approach.

This is one thing I've always said when schools refuse to play someone else. It gives the players the impression that their adult leadership thinks they can't win. Not the leaders I would want for my kids.
