March 3, 201511 yr Thinking about getting a clothes steamer for the family. Anyone have one? Pros and Cons would be helpful. Also what key features to look for in one.
March 3, 201511 yr We love our steamer. We only use it to touch up non-iron type shirts and nice dress slacks, suits, etc. Not sure of the brand though.
March 3, 201511 yr My wife insists on having a steamer. It works better on more delicate things like dresses that can't handle the direct heat from an iron. I don't have any clothes, personally, that aren't iron-able, so what Clyde said holds true for those things...but when it comes to my wife's wardrobe, I'll give it to her, it's worth having the steamer. When you're looking for one, the trick is making sure whatever you get is capable of putting out enough steam to get the job done. The more the better.
March 3, 201511 yr I wear dress shirts and slacks every day for work, for the past 2 years I've always ironed. Never thought about getting a steamer.
March 3, 201511 yr After years of buying very cheap irons, I bought myself a very nice iron and a steamer (both made by Rowenta) I love them both. Irons give you nice crisp shirts and pants. The steamer is quicker and is great for sweaters as well as freshening up things I have ironed but got a little wrinkled in the closet. In addition, a steamer can quickly freshen up those pants you wore and need an extra day out of, sports jackets, and anything else that is difficult to iron. I would vote for both! I would also add that it is well worth paying for a top brand.

Rowenta....that's the brand we have - both our iron and steamer as well.
March 3, 201511 yr Rowenta iron for years. Bought a steamer back when daughter was in pageants. Came in very handy.
March 3, 201511 yr Good tips. We finally have a nice iron that has lasted, but I don't know the brand. I never thought about a steamer, but that could be a really good idea, especially for my sweaters that I don't wear because they are all wrinkled up from storage.
March 3, 201511 yr BTW, Maxys has a nice Rowenta steamer that goes on sale from time to time and you can use coupons on top of that. Got my iron from Bed Bath and Beyond with their 20% off coupon.
March 3, 201511 yr Author I've had some people tell me they can steam creases as good as an iron can, anybody know about that? I hate ironing and I stink at it...looking for something that is easier. Currently I use the irons steam setting as a quasi steamer.
